I resonate with Lilisa in this episode.

My instrument is everything to me. MUSIC is everything to me.

Yes, it is fun and I love doing it, but this is my livelihood. I chose to get an education in music because I loved it so much I wanted to share how cool it can be with others. It can be hard when others don't see it like I do, but it's my biggest love. It's not just fun. It's EVERYTHING...

What is your everything?

You did react to Yayoi I lot better than I did I must admit, because I was like Lilisa here, I wanted to flip her off for sure lol. For me, my everything, to your big surprise, it's drawing ^^

I think if you find something you love to do, you shouldn't quit it. Pay no attention to what others think or say, if it brings you joy, just do it! Look at Kanami. Her parents insisted she go to a regular college, but she never gave up her love of music. Look at her now! And just look at the sheer joy she plays with when on stage! It's okay to listen to the opinions of others, but ultimately, it's your life to live, no one else's. If they don't like it, they can go suck eggs! LOL!

You see, there are nuances in the understanding of what it means to be a "free spirit" and "do what you wanna do" 😂 In the majority of cases, it means simply that people are selfish, they don't care about others, and cannot be relied upon. Of course, they in themselves may be happy living this life—especially if they have enough money and don't need to work for living. But this lifestyle is possible only for a very narrow circle of elite, of very rich people. And their world if incredibly shallow, as you can see from Lilisa and Yayoi's conversation. "Sacrificing for the school" literally meant a lavish money contribution from her parents' riches, that's it.

Lucky are those who have something in their lives which is "everything" to them... and which is also useful for society and can become a source of income. I think I managed in the end to find a job which makes me happy... well, for the most part. There are still unpleasant things I have to do as part of my job. But they pay me for these stupid and useless things, and I have to obey. Music is not my "everything," I did not make it my profession. It is important for me as a window to reality and a tool for my inner development—I call it "spiritual development," to use a classic term for it. Music is a stairway to heaven, and I climb it together with wonderful people like you. The ladder-builders are BAND-MAID, ASTERISM, and other amazing musicians who truly understand music—they are engineers who know how to construct it. But it's their "everything," for me it's just a solid support under my feet.

The pastiche of Japanese high society being portrayed in the show IRL was initially adopted during the Meiji period of the late 19th century when the country rapidly modernised from what was previously a feudal society. It's largely based off European upper class norms of the time, albeit through somewhat of a filter; which was & still is very different from the American equivalent. I suppose guitar/music would be considered 'my everything' in terms of personal passions, because as a late starter I had to fight my corner to pursue it as far as I did academically and to this day I couldn't imagine ever not playing. It's also obvious externally when I'm depressed, because my enthusiasm & discipline for practice & making time in my schedule for guitar is usually the first thing that suffers. Kind of ironic/self-destructive given that playing guitar itself is also one of the things that acts as a cathartic outlet and helps me control my state of mind.

Ok a quick rather indiscreet question to the MAIDIAC commenters Sai-chan is credited with the mocap for Tina sooooo how did they get the jiggle physics as Saiki is well not quite at level of Tina, no dis-respect meant.

Andrew Hellebrand

The same way as they model Lilisa's hair despite Mincho's being very different and covered by the mo-cap helmet, extrapolation of the underlying mannequin. Plus the motion physics are following anime BS logic rather than attempting accurate reality.

That, Vladimir, is poetically beautiful.
