Holy roller? ...more like HOLY S#!@!!!

This song packed a big punch and I was not expecting it! The most Big Wreck I have listened to felt more chill and laid back! They proved that they can pull some hard punches here!

What do you think?

I tasted a little Deep Purple and Judas Priest in that one.

Yeah not a lot of people bit when I first posted it but hopefully they will now. So much cool guitar heroics in this. And this is fresh af Big Wreck, one of the leading singles off the album they'll be dropping later this month.

Most truly serious guitar players know who Ian Thornley is. Probably the reason more people don't know who Big Wreck are is because they came onto the scene in the 90's right around the Telecommunications act of 1996 which led to the consolidation of radio stations which allowed large corporations to buy up hundreds of them (which is why everything sounded like Nickelback for a long time) So Big Wreck kind of got lost in the mix of the sudden crap-ton of bands that were doing post-grunge because that was what was selling right at that moment. So after poor sales because of lackluster promotion by their label of their (superb!) 2nd album "the pleasure and the greed", they disbanded and Ian pursued a solo career under 604 records which is (shocker!) Chad Kroeger's (Nickelback front-man) label. Ian Thornley, while being a master craftsman of music, is not a business person or big on self promotion which, ultimately is how you get known and stay in the spotlight. So a mixed bag of bad timing, bad labels, bad promoters etc. has made Big Wreck and Ian the biggest, baddest best kept secret in Rock n' Roll history...and now you know who they are...and why they don't generate a lot of views for your channel. It's sad really...

Also...Ian started with the keyboard but wanted to play guitar like Bruce Cockburn and that's how he began. ..

To answer your question about how he's making those sounds: he's prooooobably making use of pinch harmonics along with really precise bends, but I can't be 100% sure.
