This band is unique in how they approach their overall sound.

I can see why they have been given the genre of "shoegaze" since it seems like the guitar parts have effect sounds at times and then switch to a regular tone that a listener is used to.

For them being a 3 person band, they really put out a big sound. I am in love with the bassist and their playing. I would like to understand what the wraps around her fingers are because I think that would be something that would help me in my playing!

Definitely worth a listen if you've never heard of this band before!

I discover Regal Lily when they do the ending of one of my favorite anime of all time, "Eigthy six". Their song called "Alchemila" give me chills through my spine. That cutesy voice of Honoka Takahashi scream like in pain...is beatiful and creepy in the same time.

That venue is quite famous, specifically it's the venue for the annual Naon Yaon festival hosted by Show-Ya. Nemophila also put out a dvd of their latest show at the venue

I like Regal Lily my favorite song is probably Twinkling Ash which was the ending song for the anime Delicious in Dungeon. As for other shoegaze bands that I like there is Mass of the Fermenting Dregs, Hammer Head Shark, Cephalo, and Kinoko Teikoku. The youtube channel ANGURA: Japanese Underground Music also has some short documentaries talking with Mass of the Fermenting Dregs and showcasing the music and also one with Hammer Head Shark which is how I learned about them.

Thank You, Enjoyed your in-depth analysis of this song, It’s what prompted me to join. I’d always felt like most of Honoka’s singing voice emanated from her top palate area. Hadn’t thought of vibrato, but yes it’s rarely if ever used. Regarding Umi’s taped fingers, I have this full show on BluRay and the setlist is 23 songs, all without a pick so she’s just protecting from sore fingers. She does have at least one song using a pick, “Tenkirin”.🦒 Just like Luis, my introduction to RegalLily was from enjoying the amazing anime “86”. I agree that Alchemilla is a great epic song. Honoka is a treasure and oddly enough today 12/10/2025 is her 28th Birthday 🎂 🦒
