Juan San

The other day you asked about hidden gems. Spirit is definitely one of them. They hide a progressive rock gem inside a hard rock song, like a geode rock (pun intended). They would do it more often later.

Juan San

From Kanami's bluesy solo at the coda of this song, some musicians could make a whole musical career out of it.

Notice Kanami brought back remnants of Domination in the Spirit solo. Usually end up watching Miku cuz...well 🥰. I'm giddy about what you'll see next week 😉

Juan San

The vocals steal the show for the first two or three listens. Then the rest slowly sinks in. Once you figure out whatever Kanami's doing in the background, you can't help but hear it loud and clear.

Juan San

Oh, that's right! And with the 2018 live performance, no less...

Hard question. They are all worthy! But I have to go with Misa! Especially since I was on the rail twice in front of her. Watching her work is beyond amazing and she makes it look so easy, which it obviously is not.

I didn't realize there was so much English in this song! Listened to it so many times, but didn't catch them before, now seeing them as you went through the score, I'll never not here them now! As with so many Band-Maid songs, the words are just part of the melody and words don't really matter as the music is just that good!

Ryan Mear has commented on Band-Maid songs that he wonders if the sound production crew just have to shut the lights off and escort Kanami out of the studio, as she never seems satisfied with the songs, lol!

Wayne B

I love how Band-Maid with Kanami in the driver seat never make a song to just be filler, but every song is worthy of their full attention as if it's the only song you will ever hear from them! What a band, Po!

I've given up waiting for a bad Band-Maid song, just never going to happen! That's the hard part, to single out a single member to concentrate on as all of them are worth watching! I've seen them live and the only way I've been able to concentrate on a single member is that they happen to be the one I'm in front of! Seen them four times and have been front or second row in front of all of them at one serving or another, but I have to admit the Dallas 2022 serving, which was Miku's birthday, stands out as a favorite!

With any band or song, my ear is naturally drawn to the bass. For me, the bass line can make or break a song. Even if the melody, or guitar is very good, if the bass line is just thumping along keeping the beat, I probably won't listen to the song again. I love the sound of a person that knows their way around their instrument. MISA knows the bass inside and out, up and down. She is one my favorite (if not my favorite) bassists performing today. Fami from Lovebites is another great bassist.

Nittpicc obsessing over Saiki's body again? Granted, Fishnetz Saiki is my favorite of her looks, and she's certainly got the legs for it -- what? You're obsessing about her throat and diaphragm? Well, okay. On that note, though, if you're anywhere near Saiki at a show, you might have a hard time looking at anyone but her. She has this intense, hypnotic charisma on stage that compels your attention. Video can't really capture it but in person it's something else. Other people who've seen her live can confirm. Hopefully you get a chance to find out next year... Musically, Akane's always the first one I listen for. Maybe not on a first listen to a new song but after I've heard it a couple times and start focusing on individual members, I'll usually go to drums first. Band-Maid concerts are generally about 2 hours long. They generally start with about six bangers played back to back to beat you into submission and then take a short break to say a few words. Then they'll have another, I dunno, 15-20(?) minutes worth of talky breaks during the show, which includes Miku's Omajinai Time. They do a bit more talking at Japanese shows; Miku's definitely gotten better at English but it's still a challenge for them.

The most underrated song from Band-Maid. Btw, the begining of Kanami's guitar solo it sounds like a sample for Domination. Correct me if I'm wrong

NittPicc Reacts

You’re not wrong. I read a comment somewhere about that and immediately had to jump over to domination to check. 100% a musical quote.

While the song is great what sticks out for me in this song is MISA's single note solo.
