When the scores aren't at bay, this little NittPicc will play!

I was pleasantly surprised when I heard that Miku was the main voice on this track. Miku has such a lovely singing voice and we know this from the Cluppo album...that I still need to check out fully!

Anyway, seeing the differences in both performances was eye opening! I loved it!

I know you’re busy but you definitely need to start learning Japanese especially if you want to see them in Japan cuz Okyuji is not a concert. You started watching anime already so avoid watching dub one but always watching sub (u’ll pick up Japanese here/there along the way). Watching is also really good way to learn Japanese(unfortunately lots Band Maid’s fans are allergic to anime🤭😁 🍺🥴)

Phaeron

Press pause at 23:34 in this video and you'll see a familiar face with long blonde hair sitting in front of Miku, next to a pink-haired lady wearing a hat... Looks like a couple of wolves have snuck into the arena. 😂🐺🤘🏻 And please correct me if I'm wrong. The lady who Miku gave a high five to was Misa's mother, right?

Charles Coleman

I can't remember where it is, but somewhere on the internet is a version of this with the English translation of what Miku is saying at the start and it's really funny!! Please, anyone who knows where it is, please post! Could it be from an Ohrenje video?

Brian Yuen

Can you see Midori from Lovebites when Miku walking around?

Msquare

I agree with Phaeron that it's Misa's mother Miku high fives.

Luis Arispe

I love this song. I think it has a little of rockabilly in there. This is part what of the fandom called "Saiki's pee time". Ha ha Miku is so cute I wanna scream!. I love her so much. One of my favorite song of the maids. Gambare Kobato!!

Jonas S

The woman that Miku high-fives in the Yokohama Arena vid is Misa's mom :) (at 21:49). Also at 32:34 you can see three members of Lovebites in the audience, just next to the railing!

Phaeron

Thank you! 😉✌🏻

2horses in a man costume

Yes, I'm pretty sure that it's in his Miku documentary edit: found it, see other comment

Bill Whitaker

In comments from the Yokohama Arena show, the lady wearing glasses that Miku high fives is MISA's mother. And it's not just Midori in the audience. To Midori's left is Haruna (in the hat), and Asami next to her. It's great to see bands supporting each other.

Charles Coleman

This is an Unfair Game to Play! It is so hard to choose which one of these I prefer. They are both so incredible and super fun in their own way. I have to award the Gold Pigeon to both of them.

Phaeron

From my archive, I could provide a 13-minute version with the complete Omajinai time and the translation by t-shinji on Reddit, which I made for myself some time ago. It would be uploaded quickly. Should I?

Charles Coleman

Awesome Dude!!! NittPicc - you MUST watch this! It adds even more to just how great and fun this scene is!

William Hallisey

Kobato, is funny as hell, even when she is acting like she's serious! She is one of the most entertaining MC's out there. I can see her having her own late night show.

2horses in a man costume

I think four of them are there. Miyako in the red and Asami and Haruna between she and Midori. Can't remember (or tell) which one is wearing the bucket hat

Charles Coleman

I'm not sure about the copyright concerns, but I guarantee we'd all love to see it po!

2horses in a man costume

Just rechecked and found a photo of three of them out side the arena and it's Haruna in the hat

Nomad1991

Kanami has a beautiful singing voice she just doesn’t like to sing 🤘🏻🫶🏼🤘🏻

Phaeron

Which is a real shame. But I'm pretty sure it's not the only song on the album she lent her voice to. A little later on the album, there's another song where we could already hear her beautiful voice acoustically live. And to me, it sounds very much like she did this in the studio as well. 😊

In my experience, American Band-Maid crowds are pretty respectful. Miku climbed down into the audience at a NY show, and some of the members also walked through the crowd in Portland (it's a weird venue, there's kind of an open lane down the middle of the floor). I think some of the people in Portland tried for a high five, don't quite remember. But no one grabs at them and generally people give them their personal bubble. A lot of the older male fans kinda see the Maids a bit like daughters or little sisters, and anyone who grabbed one of them at a performance might find themselves in trouble... Watching Miku being super cutesy and bubbly is always interesting, because she's got this look in her eyes like the gears in her head are constantly turning. Then there's the relentless way she supports and promotes the band, and her sophisticated lyricism, and things like crushing poker tournaments in her free time. A lot of us suspect she's actually extremely shrewd. I wouldn't be surprised if she was the major force behind their becoming self-managed, or rather, setting up their own management business, especially considering what they named it (MaidIt)...

Charles Coleman

Thank you! This is so cool! The Pigeon at her best!

Phaeron

With pleasure... and yes, indeed. The stage is made for her. 🕊️🤘🏻

I got to see this song done live in Dallas in 2022, and it was so fun! Hey, Hey!

Jonas

You probably didn't notice but at 23:34 you can see Lovebites members sitting right in front of Miku, there was Asami next to Haruna with the black hat then Midori with the blond hair and then Fami doing the heart with her hands, and I'm not sure but I do think we see Miyako at some point before that too. At the minute 21:48 Miku does a high five with Misa's mom lol.

Wayne B

Which one do I like better? Simple answer, BOTH! Each has a special charm and you get to see how Miku has evolved over the years! Like Magic Spell Time, no two are alike!

BandMaidfanATL

Atlanta for me. Got Sayonakidori in DC. Actually, I stood right behind the lighting guy in Atlanta and could see the set list. I almost got S again, but it was scratched for RnM. I guess Miku wasn’t feeling it that night.

BandMaidfanATL

My favorite, cause I was there. 31:16

Wayne B

I've seen Sayonakidori four times, Phoenix and Dallas in 2022 then Nashville and Denver in 2023.

Yes, Miku is really good at hyping the crowd and playing her character, but don't forget that she worked in a maid café and was in an Idol group (albeit for a short period) which means she had training of doing just this for at least a while. That plus it's most likely also in her personality while Saikis personality seems the opposite of this (even though she absolutely gotten way better at promoting the band after Miku and Saiki did their radio show. I also have a feeling Pony Canyon (their current label) has put at least both of them in media training if they hadn't had any of that before. Just like all of them (especially Saiki and Kanami and a Miku a bit) have gotten English training as well. That said, I don't think any of them had done anything like that when that first video you watched was recorded. It was only Miku with her maid café and short Idol experience and her mountains of enthusiasm. Edit: As far as the backing vocals goes, Kanami certainly does sing live, but I can hear backing tracks as well (or it has been touched up in post with pitch-correction). I think Kanamis mic is relatively low in the mix and you mainly hear backing tracks. Not to take anything away from her vocal skills though, I love Kanamis vocals. The acoustic Puzzle performance Saiki and Kanami did is one of my favourite Band-Maid performances. Also both Misa and Akane played (for a short while) in a jazz club if I am not mistaken in the beginning of their career (or at least one of them) and they went to a music school so they should have at least some experience with jazz (jazz isn't small in Japan). Also, while I have never heard it myself (and since they self-release almost all their music I will probably never be able to get it because they only sold those older albums until they were gone) but Unlucky Morpheus did a jazz album of some of their Touhou covers at one point. I have no clue how that sounds, but I was really annoyed I only found out too late to get it. Edit2: As far as the tats go, Tattoos are still a big no-no in Japan (although it is slightly changing nowadays from what I have heard). But in the days of those older ladies, it was absolutely not done to get one. They are usually connected to the yakuza (the Japanese mafia) because they are a tradition in those organizations which means you are not allowed to enter in some of the public baths if you have them (or you have to cover them up). Some younger people do seem to get them nowadays though, for example Saiki certainly has a couple of them.

thewrecke

I need a reaction to the Zepp FREEDOM performance

Sami Koivisto

I'm guessing the Lovebites ladies got the idea for audience walkabout from witnessing this show.

Joe Kuan

I think Ohrenje has the translation for the Zepp Tokyo version. If I'm not mistaken, it's in Mike's documentaries. Im not sure which part cos it's have 3 parts

Eno L

After attending this concert, Lovebites did the same thing where everyone in the band (except for the drummer) walked right into the crowd whilst playing and singing. It's the "Raise Some Hell" official live video on their channel.

Juan San

I'd pay an obscene amount of money to hear a Jazz Maid album. Both versions of "Rock in Me" showcase Miku as an absolute entertainer, a true queen of the stage.

Phaeron

A little shameless self-promotion, and to make sure NittPick sees it too: I posted something further down in Charles Coleman's first comment. 😇 The complete talk + song, 13min, including translation.

Keith Zirwes

I am pretty certain the woman that Miku high fives is Misa's Mother.

seizetheday

Miku singing while running back to the main stage and not losing any volume. IMPRESSIVE.

Paul Bame

There's a YT of Miku going right into the audience in LA I think, yeah here in the often creepy US. But a straight wide aisle opened up among the relative giants like Moses parting the Red Sea. We talk a lot about respecting their skills, but the respect sooo doesn't stop there.

Juan Lee

That is MISA's mom with the Hi-Five.
