After listening to album version more than once to react to and analyse with the score, hearing the live version is a whole different experience!

I thought this would feel a little more dialed back due to the tempo and overall sound of the song, but nope. I was wrong. 100%. BUT...I love being wrong in this kind of case. I should've remembered that BAND-MAID makes anything and everything hype!

You should check out the live version of fan cam by Vladimir Chupin. You’ll see the surprise there. Even on you own

Listen Miku's guitar when Kanami is playing the solo....ummm sublime.

Poor NittPicc, I can tell how tired you must be from marching season. You had me yawning too. But yeah, this is so much more energetic live. CLANG!! Like a frying pan into your face! but in a good way!

Please forgive me, but I'm going to be a little picc-y for a moment. You shouldn't refer to the backing track as an overdub, as they are different things. An overdub is something added to an existing recording, whereas in this case the band is playing along with the backing track and the audience hears them both together. They have been known to do overdubs to fix mistakes - two famous examples are in About Us they fixed one of Saiki's vocal lines, and in the Yokohama Arena show, they fixed Misa's solo in Onset (she made a mistake, but we can forgive her since she was standing right in front of her mom).

The album version doesn't do the song justice; in general, WD has one of the worst mixes in their discography, which is why it's impossible to appreciate the full potential of the composition unless you listen to this live performances. Band Maid adds a lot to their backing track: third vocals and guitars, synthesizers, strings... just as Rush said, it's impossible to translate all those elements to a live performance without spending a fortune hiring a backing band like Pink Floyd, Yes, or Deep Purple. I'm taking the liberty of borrowing from the archives of the incomparable Vladimir Chupin the version from the 2019 European tour, featuring one of the best intros in the band's history. There aren't many opportunities to see MISA doing tapping... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLm0ZS2oTj8

Miku is using my favorite guitar in the live! I do really love her "Flappy Pigeon", but her pearl and abalone Zemaitis is a work of art!

Joe Kuan

You should react the one with the fancam where MISA did tap on her bass guitar with Kanami in the intro
