Shock. Heartbreak. PAIN!

I thought this episode was going to be a nice relaxing episode where I would learn more information about Lakan and his connection with Maomao...but we got something WAY more!

I was in complete shock seeing Maomao get hit. I couldn't believe that someone would treat such a small person (even if they have a sharp tongue) like that. He obviously would've been able to block her vs hitting her.

...my heart breaks for Maomao. She did what she could to protect the person who was in danger, and it just so happened to be Jinshi...

Everything is connected. The plot is unraveling. Nothing in this show is a filler. The insert song when Jinji carries Maomao is called "Flame of the Blue Sky," performed by Daichi Takenaka.

Here is the second clip that conviced me to look into this show, Maomao facing the guard, being hit then getting up, Lakan helping her and her saving Jinshi. I didn't know the context, the characters nor had sub to know what happen, but the voice acting and the animation was sufficient for my brain to be "I have to watch that". Also just a quick note about Lakan, he seemed really angry that Maomao was hit and shocked to see her hurt at the end, so despite how sus he seem, it look like he care at least for his daughter. As for Jinshi, he could have asked for someone else to carry Maomao, but he did it by himself, not caring about how that look knowing that he is Jinshi and well know in the rear palace, that plus the face he made seeing her hurt, yeah, you can definetly be sure that he love her ^^.
