This show finished how I thought it would.

I was hoping that Mahiru and Kano would reconnect at the end and it happened. Kano has her muse again, but she also realized she wanted to sing because she wanted to share what she loved with her audience.

The fact that Kano and the girl from the Sunflower Dolls are friends again was so cute! Honestly, heart was satisfied with how this story ended even though it was a very short series.

There isn't a lot that missing imo, I just wish we had a better clarification of what is the relationship between Kano and Mahiru, because we had that kiss and clearly some yuri/girls love vibe from them, but we kind of not explore it more after. In the meantime, Mei is clearly attracted to girls the way she act with both Kano and Mero and Kiui seem to end up in a kind of relationship with Koharu (the one that do plastic surgery) plus the fact that Kiui have some nonbinary subtext, there is definetly some queerness in the show, but we kind of have the impression that they didn't fully did what they wanted or had cold feet in the end. I wouldn't call the show queerbaiting, and not everythings need to be put black on white, but there is this sensation of being on the edge without taking the big step that bother me a little ^^'. Still a good show, and it's very funny that you talk about V-tuber and song since I posted some for you to react and have more for later, so in the end, you will have this kind of virtuals singer that you talked about, even if, in a way, Gorillaz was already kind of that since they started in 1998 ^^.

The consensus when this was first released was that the ending portion of the show felt somewhat rushed & tried to resolve things too quickly, after also having bit of storyline inertia in the middle portion with the time skips sapping a little of the momentum, many thinking that just having even a single extra episode would've made a significant difference. It's still a B rating overall for me, but given the even higher early potential it could've used a bit more room to stick the landing and as Spadeas also suggests fill in more of the actual character growth/development for parts of the expanded cast in the process. As for wondering what they'd do next, JELEE has actually grown to have an existence beyond the show itself. To date there's been two mini albums released, the first called 'Jelee Box' came out three days after the show finished airing in Japan back in June 2024 (mostly consisting of songs from the show) and then a second called 'Jelee Bag' that was released on 9th December 2025. Kano's VA Rie Takahashi has been streaming playing games 2-3 times a month since 1st December 2024 on the group's YT channel as a 2D vTuber of Jelee-chan, with one stream also done by Miyu Tomita as Kiui's vTuber Nox playing Overwatch 2. Both performed on stage as part of JELEE's first IRL gig on 19th March 2026 that was also live-streamed (Mei & Mahiru's VAs provided some pre-recorded spoken contributions during the MC sections). To celebrate the IRL concert the Jelee-chan avatar also then got a 3D model upgrade and the latest video on their channel is a video of Rie using it to perform one of the newer singles in front of the original Jellyfish mural.

Also one extra little detail, the man with the blue umbrella who stops in front of the new mural is probably Kano's father Shotaro Yamanouchi, who we'd only partially seen previously in flashbacks.
