After watching and editing this episode, I realized somethings. I am going to put all this in bullet points to make it easier to read my thoughts:

"Dowager" means a widow holding property or title from her deceased husband.

Anshi wants Maomao to solve a mystery/problem for her: Anshi believes she cursed the previous emperor.

The current emperor has one child with Lady Gyokuyo, their daughter Lingli.

The current emperor's mother IS Dowager Anshi.

The previous emperor was the current emperor's father...

Jinshi is thought to be the current emperors brother, but it doesn't seem like he is Anshi's biological son. Rather he is the biological son of Ah-Duo!

SOOOOOOO...does that mean that JINSHI IS THE EMPEROR'S SON?!?!

The best shows where you have two main characters of the opposite sex use tension between the two to keep the interest of the audience. That's why some of the best shows on TV keep the two always apart. If the two acknowledge their love for each other, the show usually ends shortly after. It's the tension of the two dancing around the issue that keeps the audience coming back week after week.

Spadeas

I won't spoil the why, but you already had a hint in this episode, you will see in the next one. Speaking of the next one, get ready it might be a hard one for some of the subject it talk about, still a very interesting one and if you love to analyse the psyche of characters, you will have material for. Side note, lady Anshi, the empress dowager, is voiced by Noto Mamiko and I have to say, when I heard her first sentence, I recognised her, she had a voice that I know well for many role, but most of it, she was in Mai Hime/Mai Otome, my fav anime that I made you listen to one song composed by Yuki Kajiura. So yeah, that is a voice that I know for years now ^^. Also, she play a character in Frieren season two, that I recognised imediatly too, so it won't be the last time you hear her voice.
