Here are the first 3 videos of our 9 video journey into AiNA the End!

These 3 performances were vastly different in their style and approach. I cannot wait to dive deeper into the last 6!

(Sorry for not typing more of a description. Due to some technical difficulties, I am going to keep this short to help get myself to sleep.)

"On the way" is the opening song of the second season of the anime "Dan Da Dan", because of that that's the "Dan dan da da dan" in the arrragenments.

Don’t miss out on the song “Creation”. Aina’s collaboration with composer Yuto Bando and maybe her most underrated song.

I never thought you'd actually react to all nine suggestions, so I'm feeling rather spoilt and then some. Aside from Aina herself the one point of consistency across these first three songs & MVs is her long term tiny bassist of choice, sometime writing partner and Mogwrian member Shoko Nakamura. Aina is only 159-161cm in height herself and she towers over Shoko, they also share the same birthday of 27th December and from their socials & behind the scenes footage seem to have a genuine friendship outside of their professional relationship. Mogwrians is a made up Aina word, just like Zokingdog, there might be some kind of in-joke origin to the band name but it's not been shared publicly. Her core group of main backup dancers are called the End Tails (possibly a play on the jazz dance term 'shake your tail feathers'), were in the First Take video and the one closest to the low microphone in the pre-chorus where they were chanting the refrain is her younger sister Reika (who more successfully pursued dancing as a career), imagine that placement was partly because of the familial similarities between their voices. As for your question about when I first found out about Aina, I was aware of her through her involvement in BiSH around 2018-19 but they never quite clicked with me. Instead it was when she did a solo version of the the BiSH song 'Orchestra' for the First Take in January 2021 that made me pay more attention and want to investigate her further. Then I found out that Tokyo Jihen bassist/respected producer Seiji Kameda was involved in her solo work and from there I really enjoyed what I heard and quickly become all in by contrast.

I don't know if you have seen it but there is another First Take video of Aina performing as Kyrie the character she played in a film.

Juan San

It's curious that I discovered this woman after her time at "Bish" and in a completely tangential way when I discovered Ayuni D's work in "Pedro", in the first place. Excellent video to get an idea of Aina's work.

Juan San

Oh yes, beautiful song.

I really love Aina.. as you said, you can really feel her! I think in Apothecary Diaries i discovered her..

I read somewhere AINA said when she moved to Tokyo she was homeless living out of her car now look at her anime opening and sold out shows ..she has a unique raspy voice I like it 🫶🏻

There wasn't any car involved, when she first moved from Osaka to Tokyo at 18-19 she was pretty naive and got swindled out of money at one point early on and couldn't afford rent. Depending on the interview in question she's mentioned staying awake all night and wandering around areas like Nakano Station (because stopping anywhere would attract unwanted attention) or even sleeping in a public park a few times. It makes me wonder if those experiences later informed her performance in Kyrie.

Regarding your comment about her and Saiki both having needed operations for vocal polyps and coming back stronger; in both instances they were lucky that it was caught early & happened in their early 20s when it'd be easier for them to bounce back physically and before they'd done too much irreparable damage. Both seemed to treat it as a wake-up call, taking much better care of their voices going forward and learning healthier sustainable singing techniques. Plus the medical science behind such operations has improved greatly in recent years, in the 80s & 90s alone it was much riskier. For just a couple of examples, Elton John had surgery in '87 that permanently shifted his vocal range down and Julie Andrews had an operation in '97 that left scars and destroyed her singing voice (going from four octaves to just one lower octave with less control).

The mention of her Japan Broadway experience...she actually played the lead of Janice Joplin in the musical there. That's amazing
