I know that some people may not like the higher pitch, squeakier(?) female Japanese vocal style, but Misaki has a good mixture of a higher voice with a little musical grit to it.

I could imagine her in a punk band in all honesty. I sort of think she has a similar sound to that of Tsunami Bomb. If you haven't heard of them before...😉

Her vocals do sound way more natural compared to the standard kawaii vocal mask (that nasal squeaky voice you describe) that Yukina of Hanabie and the pop idol scene uses extensively. For whatever reason it infected the anime scene back in the early 2000s and hasn't left yet. It does frustrate me to no end when Westerners think Japanese women sound like that naturally. Yes there are a miniscule amount of women that can do it naturally but the majority are putting an affect on their vocals. It does seem like all female vocalists can do it though which is interesting. Fuki (Doll$boxx, Unlucky Morpheus) actually has a solo song with the kawaii mas in place, it's very interesting. Also PassCode has a song with the kawaii mask even through the auto-tune with Spectre.

Actually ... the band is 21 years old formed in 2005 ... which is actually near the end on the pop/punk movement in Japan. The song is 9 years old ;) . Bands like Ketchup Mania and Hi-Standard were in the middle of that scene in Japan in the 90's. Misaki has a unique voice and that is what keeps me listening. You asked for more punk so the next few weeks should be interesting with bands like No Brain, The Linda Linda's, and Karen Dió coming up :) . Until 2015, Special Thanks published songs entirely in English. From the interwebs: "Misaki stated in an interview, 'Since I was a kid, all of my favorite Japanese bands (Donut Man, Stompin' Bird) were singing in English, so I thought 'Being in a band = singing in English.' I thought that was normal.'" Their second album released in 2015 was sung in Japanese. They have produced music for the anime Wolf Girl and the Black Prince opening theme. Other than that I don't really know much about them. I have always been a pop/punk fan so their sound drew me in. Now, Tsunami Bomb released a video as recently as 9 months ago ... and years active shows 1998–2005, 2009, and 2015–present. I did check your work on purple flutes too and you are right ... they are all shit ... nothing pro level ;) . I think you are gonna need to stick with bass ;) .
