I don't think Lain is the "only" Lain if you know what I mean...

Either Lain is suffering from some kind of personality disorder, or the wired version of her is somehow able to take hold of her real life version of her.

Also...I'm starting to think it is possible to lose yourself within the wired this way because look at how her sister is acting all of a sudden after that one episode...!
