I wasn't expecting the action that happened in this episode, but it did make for a scary surprise.

I really liked the ending of this season. It feels like they really rounded out the story with a nice call back to our man, Himmel.

I cannot wait to dive into season 2!

2026-09-26 10:00 Serie promotes magical power and attitude, for that, all the people she passed the test is because she sees that are powerful and with the rigth attitude. Nittpic. Season 2 is only 10 episodes, not 12. To celebrate the end of the season, here's Milet, Live at Taipei, singing "Anytime Anywhere". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzv5TvoZDkU&list=FLEzAlzvW7QzD1Bhf4ivlzgg&index=3

Some overall hypotheses after season 1 finale: 1. Serie started the Continental Magic Association (CMA) in order to control the development of magic and to make it "special" again. Earlier in the season, Frieren talks about how the number of mages has dwindled and you only seem to see them in the magic towns now. Additionally, the association creates a pipeline that funnel mages to her so she can develop them or assess their talents. 2. Serie is behind the increased demon activity in the Northern Lands. Serie may have started the CMA 20 years before Himmel's death to get things rolling (knowing the Himmel was mortal and would be dead relatively quickly). This is potentially another tool in order to find/create great mages. This increased demon activity will create a crucible to winnow out unworthy mages (and bring about those like Wirbel whom she enthusiastically approves of). 3. Whatever way Himmel and party killed the Demon King was not permanent. There was something about Himmel's life force that kept things sealed while he was alive. Since Himmel's death, demon activity has increased (this could also be that the remaining demons were laying low until they heard about the death of Himmel). 4. Stark is going to have to go back to the village of the sword and retrieve the Hero's sword and be the "true" hero. This ties into the Demon King not truly being dead. We see that Stark has trained with a sword not only in his village before it was destroyed (S1E12), but by Lord Orden as well (S1E15).

You understand now why i said to not be too harsh on Serie, she is quite akwards, but she does care about her students, if it wasn't the case, she wouldn't remember their favorite spells, she just doesn't understand how she really feel and how to convey that, Frieren even have trouble with it, but she try and had Himmel and the other to teach her first and now Fern and Stark, Serie only have her student. But yeah, i said there was one surprise for the spell that conjure a field of flowers, here you have it, even if she said it was useless, Serie still know it and cast it here, to honor Flamme, because, once again, she cared, she just don't know that. About the test, Serie basically wanted to see how the test taker would react to her massive mana (even if it was restricted), Denken and Wirbel starting as "fight mode" fisrt made her happy, Ubel being a total weirdo that work on instinct surely wasn't impressed by her mana and only thought if there was a way to cut her, Methode judging her cute rather than terrifying made her pass too because she wasn't afraid like other before, she had the mental to be a first class mage. As for Land, with his trick of not even being on the place in the first place, of course Serie would let him pass (but what a reveal). As for your question about what spell i would like to have, i would say none of thoses shown in this season. I always like the idea of using air/wind/sound, because it could be used for defense and attack pretty easely, could also make you fly and used in a precise or very destructive way (i like the idea of using compressed air bubble, could serve as a cushion to reception you, but also a big bang when released in one go). Same could be said about water or earth like Kanne and Ricther use, but "air" is everywhere around us, it's the only element in the four main that you won't need to find or accumulate from small source, plus i like crows and birds, so of course air would be MY elements ^^.

This ending was hard at the time, season 2 had not yet been announced. Thinking that this was the end of Frieren was pretty hard for a lot of us fans. Elves see the world differently, they don't understand human emotions. Their lives are so vast that very little of human endeavor is of concern for them. Have fun with season 2.

Ubel: I steal people's magic by learning about them. Serie: You pass. Get out. Ubel: No talk? Serie: No. Also, I love the Land reveal. Blew my mind a little and now I get to watch it blow other people's minds. Doing the entire mage exam from home is CRAZY. Also, Methode seems soft, harmless, maybe even a little ditzy, but she's actually pretty badass. Remember she volunteered to 1v1 the Fern clone, and although we didn't get to see that fight, the aftermath showed Methode surrounded by Zoltraak impact craters but she seemed to be fine. Probably Serie knew that - or maybe she was just happy that Methode wasn't intimidated by her mana. Also... what? It's only a thousand years. If you think about it, this means that for the next thousand years the CMA will have to know who Frieren is. And it's not like Frieren cares about being in the CMA anyway. Serie reminds me of an EXTREMELY jaded teenager. She obviously cares for her students, she cares about humans, she cares about the world, she ended up fulfilling Flammes last wish despite mocking it - but she puts on this extreme "you all suck, everything sucks" act almost all the time.

Übel passed because she thinks so far outside the box that the box is meaningless to her. And in a world where only what you can envision can you accomplish, Übel has little if any limitations on what she can envision. Yeah, Land was never there. (Minor spoiler but it doesn't really affect the anime and probably won't be mentioned in the anime until season 4 or 5) Never left his village because he is taking care of his grandmother.

Everyone gets upset about Serie banning Frieren from the CMA, but I like to think she did it as a favor. Remember how upset Frieren was when no one (even back in Himmel's day) knew what her mage amulet meant? Remember how no one at the initial test meeting knew who she was? Now for the next 1000 years everyone in the CMA will have to know who she is and what she's done.
