First thing's first, I always forget to mention it so please keep in mind that the fridge will be cleaned out today at 6pm. If there’s something you don’t want incinerated please grab it. Less importantly, it’s been a very busy month at Secret Base thanks to you so in case you were head down and missed something, here is a collection of updates. Update number 1, this is Will. Hello!

WHAT’S NEW ON PATREON (MAY RELEASES)

Pretty Good REFORM! Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

The Annex: Perfection (Episode 1)

An early access look at the Nuggets-Sonics Rewinder

Dorktown: Caitlin Clark is in her own universe

Our First Ever Secret Base Mailbag (thanks to our Top Secret Agents for the questions)

That’s somewhere between five and endless hours of new content that wouldn’t have been produced without you. You have done this. This is your fault and/or you are a shining light bringing joy and entertainment to so many people.

If you haven’t unlocked this content yet and aren’t ready to upgrade to the $5 tier, we get it and that’s fine! You can still check out the first episode of REFORM! as well as get a sneak peek at The Annex over on our YouTube. The rest will be waiting for you whenever you join the party.

WHAT’S NEW ON YOUTUBE

Well, even without Patreon we have kept busy. In case you weren’t aware, basketball is really having a moment. The NBA is doing playoffs this year (congrats NBA fans!) so we’re honoring that bold move by showcasing basketball on YouTube. Oh, and Clara covered yet another fantastic baseball beef, which she produced right before having a healthy baby boy in March (hence her being a little absent of late).

In case you missed a video when it went live, we’ve got you covered.

REFORM! Part 1 | Pretty Good

The Lakers' last chance to avoid disaster in 2010 needs a deep rewind

Seattle loved Alex Rodriguez until a $250 million contract from Texas turned it into beef

Manu Ginobili’s double overtime playoff thriller deserves a deep rewind

Bam Adebayo meeting Jayson Tatum at the rim in the 2020 playoffs deserves a deep rewind

Oh, and tomorrow (Saturday, June 1) there’s a fresh episode of M.V.P. hitting the channel. Don’t tell anyone. Or wait shit tell everyone, we need the views. I always mix those up.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR SECRET BASE

Well, June on Patreon is getting kicked off with another episode of Pretty Good, this time focusing on the history of people slipping on banana peels. This is another example of videos we genuinely would not get to make if it weren’t for you, so thanks for the excuse to see Jon take on something stupid and turn it into a very thoughtful, enjoyable piece. Still kinda stupid though.

We’re also going to be dropping another early access Rewinder for paid subscribers and are hard at work on episode two of The Annex. No spoilers on those, but I’ll say a towel will come in handy for both pieces.

On YouTube, June is going to see new episodes of Beef, Rewinder, and Prism, plus Kofie with M.V.P. We’ve got more basketball for the NBA Finals, maybe a little football, and also we’re trying out a marathon of Collapse episodes so if you’ve ever wanted to just watch two hours of dynasties falling apart - we’ve got you covered.

NO CONTEXT SLACK MESSAGES

Ok, now as a treat for getting through all of that info, here’s something different. I really enjoy talking to the rest of Secret Base. Rarely do we stay on topic and unsurprisingly, everyone is capable of dropping nonsense in their own way. For posterity purposes, and to give myself little treats when I’m cleaning up my desktop, I often take screenshots of moments that for some reason brought me joy. Here is a small collection.

Because this message was sent at exactly 10:00AM, I’m choosing to believe for some reason Seth sent this as a scheduled message.

I swear this was 100% work-related.

Can’t believe I used to not use dark mode.

No recollection of this one and have no desire to look it up.

Gonna print all of these out and pin them to the bulletin board. Surely someone will clean it up before next time, but until then don’t forget to be good to each other, enjoy all the content you wish, and as always: commence shoulderdong.

Oh, and please stop getting fish for lunch. The smell seeped into the carpet.

xoxo, will

Seth Rosenthal

Secret Base

they didn't give you a shoulderdong that you KNOW of

PsyMar

my shoulders are too full of cat

Trenchgun

If y'all ever end up doing anything pro wrestling CM Punk/The Elite a beef history episode for free, in recent that is the most pivotal real life beef to happen in the wrestling sphere

Datsko

I think another reason why banana slips per capita may have decreased is that littering has become much more frowned upon than it used to. Fewer people are willing to just toss a peel on the ground.

Terakahn

Wrestling in general has a ton of really good stories to tell along those same lines. Maybe not as recent or as widely talked about, but they're there. As a lifelong wrestling fan up until about a decade ago, I think a really cool episode could be done on the establishment of kayfabe, and how much people were allowed to see behind the curtain as time went on.
