Right off the bat (sports term) I am going to give you a choice.

you can keep reading here

you can watch a version of this we're trying out on YouTube

It's designed for YouTube and we'll aim to get one of these up per month, with the main goal being an easy place to update everyone there on some of the stuff we have planned for YouTube, as well as hype up what we're working on over here on Patreon.

Related, on Monday we'll be dropping a new Patreon trailer that shows off what we've gotten to do in year one thanks to all of y'all, and all the new/extra/bigger things we're aiming to pull off in year two.

Because of that, we'll keep this short because a few of the items I don't want to spoil/that video will do a better job breaking things down. But, what I can do is get into some specifics for what's coming up in May and just to be clear - we're starting year two off with a lot of New Things.

PATREON DROPS FOR MAY

May 5th: Collapse of the Bad Boy Pistons. We've teased this before but thanks to all of you here on Patreon, we were able to justify a three-episode return to Collapse. Thank youuuuuuuuuu!!!!

May 12th: APM Music Hour, hosted by DJ Jon Bois. This is a brand new concept that came from the fact we know y'all have become some huge fans of the music used in our videos. Jon is compiling some of his favorites and then taking a crack at playing a radio DJ for an hour and serving up the hits. If y'all like this, we'll definitely do more of it and think on iterations for the future.

May 19th: Collapse of the Atlanta Hawks. That's right, we aren't keeping you waiting for more Collapse episodes. The third and final piece of this installment will come in June, thanks again for giving us justification to pull this off.

May 26th: Phys Ed, episode one, featuring Jon Bois. Seth and Ryan dropped the starting point for this new show, so we'll be spending May doing interviews and building the thing properly.

June 2nd: PART 1 OF NEW SECRET JON BOIS PROJECT. This will be public info starting on Monday (happy early Cinco de Mayo) so more to come, but for now I'm keeping my lips sealed. All I can say is between this project, Fool Time, and having a kid - Jon has had so much on his plate and in order to pull off the big, he needed May off from Pretty Good, which is why we hope you accept our offering of multiple Collapse episodes in place.

YOUTUBE DROPS IN MAY

Ok so in May there IS a Pretty Good going up on YouTube, so for some of y'all reading this that does mean a brand new episode. So, here's a few things to keep an eye out for...

God Hates a Coward. If you want the original viewing experience, there's still time. And by that I mean, there's always time. It's going nowhere.

Scattered: Shohei Ohtani's absurd 2024 season

Beef History: Mark Teixeira vs. Vicente Padilla

Prism: Marc Gasol

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

We finally got back to hockey! And by "we" I mean Will talked more hockey at people. Hope all who celebrate the Stanley Cup Playoffs are having a good time.

Weird Rules about when and how the Florida Panthers tried to draft an underage Ovechkin

An idiot explains the Stanley Cup Playoffs evolution to three non-hockey fans

In a less frozen world, the finale to Jon's latest massive project went live. Fool Time is now ready for your full enjoy. I'm linking the full collection of Pretty Good since the latest episode is at the top, but if you've been waiting to watch them all in a row then you're good to go.

Jon, Ryan, Seth and Charlotte also got together to play some weird, fun, unique variations of Balatro. Go check out the video on demand of that!

Also, if you haven't already signed up to get emails about what Godfrey's up to then what are you waiting for? The first blast went out about what he and Ryan Nanni are working on with their new venture, Falcon Scott Productions, and knowing those two beautiful boys, if you like Secret Base then you're going to LOVE Falcon Scott.

Ok that's all for today but only because we'll have more, fuller, exciting updates dropping on Monday, along with a brand new Collapse. Enjoy your weekend!

I definitely want to know what Jon's favorite APM jams are

CJ

The APM/KPM/library music that makes up Bois-core has been something I listen to for both background ambience and active leisure for months now! Keith Mansfield, Roland Kovac, Bardoni & Warr, Alan Hawkshaw...the works. Even the terrifying noisescapes of Bernard Parmegiani are in the mix! Really excited that you guys recognize something that's a Special Interest of mine. Please play "Cubic" or "In the Clouds" for me 💗

Jon... your episode on Lonnie Smith is one of my favorites. The episode is enough to be thankful for but then you introduce The War On Drugs "disappearing". that song and their entire catalog, your work has been a huge blessing to me and my existence. Truly from the bottom of my heart thank you.

CJ

I'm betting it's something from Keith Mansfield or Alan Hawkshaw from the 70s. More likely that than the stuff I really like that always sounds like it's from a local 90s commercial or something

CJ

While I do sort of miss great needle drops of "real" music, that copyright claim on Pretty Good Episode 4 might have been the best thing to happen to the series, because it introduced the unique library music aesthetic to Jon's content

Regarding God Hates a Coward, what is meant by “original viewing experience”? Is it getting edited for YouTube? This one is my favourite episode of Pretty Good yet so it’s already near and dear to my heart

setting myself up for heartbreak and praying that the secret Jon project is 20021

Cubic has absolutely no right to go as hard as it does , Roland Kovac is the GOAT

I can’t believe y’all talked about Jon’s insane workload and didn’t even bother to mention all of his trips to The Store, shame on you Mr. Base

Question for Jon or any community members who are big fans of future football: I’m rereading 20020 and trying to remember if 17776 mentions anything about what football players wear? I imagine the nanos make today’s safety equipment (helmets, pads, etc) unnecessary but do they wear that anyway for aesthetics? And what about uniforms? Do all 150 Georgia tech players for instance need to be wearing the Georgia tech jersey? Or maybe it varies by game? Is any of this explained and I’m just forgetting it?

Clayton Hurdle

Upon refinishing 20020 the uniform question has been resolved. But not equipment. I’m assuming since when OK St found Manny and thought he might be a guy impersonating a football player he wasn’t padded up but I could be wrong here?

Jon Bois DJ Hour? This is such a huge deal for me! I feel like I should call my mom… She wouldn’t get it…

Alex Mattson

He doesn't use them as much, but anything from Weindorf/Briggs and Weir/Hunter is must-listen as well. Though I do have a soft spot for Bardoni/Warr

Florgus

Graham De Wilde is a super underrated KPM Composer as well.
