The System Apocalypse - recap & AMA announcement (Patreon)

Now that you've had the chance to read System Finale, I'd love to know what your feelings are about the final book in this series.

I think I said on discord. Where I was happy and not with the way the series ended. I think the biggest part was that John didn't go through the rift. I kind of felt a little bit that he should have. It would have changed what happened. Mikito wouldn't have had to change her class as fast as she did. She would have had some connection to John. But the hole would have been sealed and John would have been somewhere else away from the system. I think I like the idea of John being in a new place, with new everything away from the system. One of the things that get mentioned is that if you go far enough the system doesn't work or isnt there. So Ali would have lost John and Mikito would have lost John. But John would be away from the things that made him hurt. Maybe fine a bit of peace. He completed the quest and now is away from everything. Sacrifice for the system and to changing minor things. Was nice and definitely John. But I like the idea of John having a life outside of the system. Maybe the whole lead to somewhere better or worse. But for are our beloved CBC it wasn't about that. It was about maybe changing wherever that was to something else. He walked through the rift, Sacrificing his planet, his friends, and the universe as he knew it. There was a 99.99% he was going to die doing it. But there was .001% chance he would walk out and find a place without the system. The system was callous. It didn't care about the people. It needed someone unique to close the rift. It would sacrifice trillions of lives to have someone with the right skills and abilities to walk through it. They needed that unique title since it connected them to the Root Administrator at the base so well that he could close the rift as they walked through. John had gotten the Root Administrator to perform what he wanted for Earth. It was minor and the Root Administrator was only willing to commit to everything with the rift closed. So John walked through the rift... At least how I wished it had gone

But that way the system would be unable to tell anyone what happened. All the credits would be gone no matter how the question about John was ended. And it would be left to the reader to decide if John was alive and well or dead. The only one who would have an idea is Mikito who would be unable to say one way or another. And maybe have a series about that universe. Maybe the Root Administrator tells John before he steps through that the otherside is different and even if he survives there is no telling how his skills, and abilities would translate over or if they would work. He would be alone and without the system

Wait there is a discord I must have missed that. Well for other things, overall I liked the book some things were in my option not so well foreshadowed? We never heard of Urd, but then that is also kinda okay with how things were supposed to be secret. The same kinda for hungering swarm. But then that is kinda okay

Yeah, the Swarm was / is just another big monster but you're right they could have been better foreshadowed. Or the big bad guys... though the System in some ways has always been the big bad. I think, given more time, I might have done it slightly differently to keep a closer thread of who the big bad was...

Hmm... good point. I might actually adjust the final lines a little since reading it over, it's a little more final than I expected.

Specially since he hated the System so much... And a unique title to Mikito would be awesome, so their bond could continue in another form. And could he give a unique title to Ali?

The book and the whole series is AWESOME! Don't worry about it, its the best I ever read. Maybe just some little changes to the end, as I previously commented, but not necessary. You rock!
