Okay, I don't know if a few people took it as a challenge, or maybe they thought I was lying about the comments still being monitored, or maybe they thought I didn't mean it about the ban hammer, or maybe they wanted to throw me off my game again...But, let me assure you, the ban hammer is real.

An individual decided to up their game and attack me directly in a comment. I wont go into all the details. All I'll say is that I'm not a dictator. I can't make anyone sign up for this Patreon. I offer a lot of membership tiers so people can pick based on their financial circumstances. At no point in the process can I force people sign up for the higher cost tiers. Nor is anyone permanently locked into a tier.

And, to apply a little realism here, the most expensive tier I offer that isn't capped is $15 a month. That's about 2-3 cups of coffee at Starbucks. Or a dozen donuts at Dunkin' Donuts. It's probably less than what it costs for one person to have one meal at any place that's a single step up from a fast food joint (at least where I live). Since I go for the low fat content hamburger, that's about enough for me to get a pound of hamburger and gallon of almond milk (lactose intolerance blows, by the way). If you're more fat tolerant than I am, maybe you can get two pounds of hamburger and a gallon of milk.

Maybe it's ego on my part, but I like to think that, over the course of any given month, I provide at least the equivalent value in entertainment of three cups of coffee at Starbucks or a dozen donuts. The big takeaway here is that, yes, I did drop the ban hammer on them. No, there was no back and forth discussion. They're just gone. Lifetime ban. While I may not like doing it, I will. I'm hoping that I won't have to do it again anytime soon.

Fair. They can buy your books later and yell at them.

Patreon is a luxury. If you can’t afford what you want then you can’t afford it. I’ve had to adjust my subscriptions to different authors multiple times to fit my needs. You don’t owe anyone your time or money. You set a price for what you’re willing to give. It’s up to us to decide if we are willing to pay it. To many feel they are entitled to more than a creator is willing to give. It’s not their time, money or hard work going into the product so they don’t have the right to try and force a creator to change.

Fuck em. You clearly put in some serious work to give us some awesome stores and I’m a massive fan because of it. Keep up the good work!!

I think it was the right choice. You have the ability and choice to refuse service to people acting like a-holes. Nothing wrong with doing it when it needs to be done. I understand not wanting to do lest it seem arbitrary, but it's not. There are clear expectations for behavior, and they did not want to follow the rules. They made that choice. Your peace of mind and mental health will thank you. Anyway - Thank you for the stories and the effort Eric.

I do wish assholes would learn to not spew shit, but sadly the reality is they never stop. Hope the rest of the week treats you well and that it is migraine free.

Considering your dietary constraints, have you tried lipase?

There is *always* someone who thinks it doesn't apply to them, or ready to foolishly attack for some misunderstood notion of hono... scratch the last part

Ban them and move on. No need to think about it more than that

Absolutely your prerogative. And totally agree, screw lactose intolerance, I got that lovely state of being a couple years ago too.

Luv it. I hate trolls. Be respectful and discuss stuff. I am late to the conversation. But if someone is not happy they just need to move on.

I get your posts in email and never come read the comments but this made me actually come here just to tell you 'you go girl!' This isn't a democracy. Nobody owns you because they pay for your services. Free speech doesn't apply for a member site so if someone wants to be annoying and break your TOS for what is acceptable, ban them and their whole household. They can sputter in the privacy of anywhere but here.

Would.. Would it be a bad idea to put said person in the story and have Sen smite them? Would be funny for a bit at least! Jokes aside, this is your home. Your home, your rules. You are god, and if you decide to smite someone, so be it. We trust you to use said smite responsibly. Luv yah man.

Eva

A bit of judicious smiting to keep the comment section polite? If it needs doing, it needs doing.
