Hello, brothers!Your Dungeon Master here!
Time for this week’s update progress. But first, have you played Dungeon Explorers on Steam yet? Yes? Then toss a positive review to your dev! It takes less than five minutes and helps me enormously to grow. And the more I grow, the more I can improve the quality of the games I bring to you. Thanks a ton!
Now, onto the update! I worked on the date with Maria, our associate from the car workshop. Like many scenes in LUFA, Maria’s date depends on choices you’ve made earlier. To unlock it, you need to strike a deal with Mercedes during the mission to infiltrate a Barones Capo’s hideout, and in that deal, you must choose to go out with Maria instead of paying Mercedes.
This date reveals some background about this family of a mother and two daughters who are tied to the Family’s business, helping to humanize these secondary characters.
For Maria’s date, I also tested something I want to use in my next game: expression changes. Until now, emotions were mostly conveyed through text or specific CGs, but in this event I experimented with swapping expressions directly on the sprite without changing the whole scene. Let me know what you think!
Aside from Maria’s event, I also finished Cintia’s route. From the very beginning this was meant to be a “fake romance” route, which is why her choices didn’t lock you out of events with the other girls.
Cintia’s story carries a meaningful message and some nice life lessons, showing how even someone lost can change completely for the better once they finally find their path, sometimes just needing a little push in the right direction.
I apologize in advance to those who wanted things to go deeper with Cintia, but I like to play with situations like this in my games. It gives more life to the world and adds flavor to the story, avoiding the cliché of most adult games.
Besides these two girl events, I revised and polished a lot of other things, fixed bugs, combed through details, and gave the gallery a nice upgrade for cheat menu users.
And while this isn’t direct progress for the current update, I’ve also researched how to add minigames to jobs instead of having them resolved randomly. This is not a promise yet! I’m just studying the possibility for now, making sure it won’t break anything or cause codes conflicts. But if it works, it’ll be awesome.
Update progress: 35%
Have fun~~
