Dungeon Explorers 2 - v0.6 update progress (Patreon)

This week, I focused on finishing the Veria Dungeon, and I’m happy to say it’s finally done! I also added a few new plot events and fixed some bugs that were reported to me.

Besides that, I’ve started working on a better way to guide players through the game directly from inside the game itself.

In DUEX 1, we had the Seer giving you hints, while in PDM we had the Diary of Wisdom providing useful tips. For DUEX 2, I want to do something similar, but also different, something more intuitive, organized, and easier to understand.

My current idea is to add a skill called Fialeja. When you use it, Fialeja would appear and give you hints about things you can currently do, almost like a mix between the Seer and the Diary of Wisdom.

The challenge is figuring out the best way to organize all of this. I don’t want it to simply be a giant list of random hints one after another. I want players to quickly understand where they can go, what they can do, and when certain events are available.

This is especially important because some events only happen during specific periods of the day. For example, Zonia’s recruitment event only appears at night. I want Fialeja’s guidance system to make things like this easier to discover without turning the game into a checklist that tells you exactly what to do.

That’s the part I’m currently brainstorming until I find a system that feels right, useful, and natural for the game.
