Good Morning

Looks like today, the weather will be sunny again. And for my friends that use the better scale, 82°F is ≈ 28°C. I love my country, but seriously, can we just grow up and use the metric system?

That might be the most profound thing I say today.

My work looks sort of routine. There’s never enough time to write all the things I want to write, but most of what I write gets read by only a fraction of the people who see the posts and articles.

If you are one of the people who like the stories, as Josh said on Saturday, I bet you know other people who like to read, too. I’d love it if you let them know about AGI Stories—The Diary, The Chosen, River City Connections, and the rest of the content.

As far as the ghostwriting goes, that scene I worked out last week is back on my to-do list. The person whose name is on the story wants me to expand the scene by about 25%. That means more of the character rolling around, dodging, jumping, and ducking behind equipment.

I probably won’t have to act it out. But… who knows?

That's about it for this morning. Jason wants to try some different settings and take some shots back at the park we went to a while ago: Queen Isabella Memorial Park. I said I would go, but only if he packs a picnic and lets me use one of the shots for my midday post.

He wasn’t hard to convince!

So… see you then!

Different Point Of View

We are at Queen Isabella Memorial Park, and the picnic is waiting, so I’ll try to go fast! In this post you get photography lessons and life lessons, all for one low price!

When Jason and I joined photography club back in 9th grade, Mr. Schnieder, the sponsor, would often say about a picture, “Try a different point of view. See what happens.”

He meant to move the camera. Look at the subject a different way. And by extension, try different settings. See what happens.

Jason had some different point of view shots in mind, and this is one of them. A second photography lesson is that if it’s not in the viewfinder, it’s not in the shot. Focus on what you want in the image, not the distractions. Crop them out if you can!

There may have been a wooden post involved!

Jason stood balanced on top of it. I’ll just say it’s not the most awkward contortion I’ve ever had to work out modeling, but it drew some stares.

The third photography lesson is to work with what’s available. If there had been playground equipment, he could have used that. He used the post and his balance to get the angle he’d imagined.

Oh… the life lessons? Same things!

When you are stuck and things aren’t working out…

1.) Try a different angle and different settings. Look at things from a different point of view. Ask others how they view the situation and what they would do.

2.) Focus on your goals, not the distractions. Crop them out if you can!

3.) Work with what’s available. Use your resources fully.

To be honest, I really like this shot. The outcome was well worth the effort to get it. Of all the shots Jason tried today, I liked this one best.

I hope you do, too.

We’re going to walk a few blocks from the condos to Viva for dinner tonight. I’ll get a picture of that for the goodnight post.

See you then!

Good Night

We’re on our way to Viva for dinner. It’s just down the street—I’ll spare you a screenshot of Google Maps, but you can look it up. I can’t recall if we’ve been there before.

Tonight, it’s just Jason and me. We spent most of the afternoon together after the picnic until a couple hours ago when he went down to his own condo to clean up and change clothes.

The menu looks amazing. I’m leaning toward the wild caught flounder, but I’ll make the final decision when we get there.

Okay… this afternoon, my agent, Naomi Prior, called Sasha (who she considers my manager, and she’s probably not wrong) about a quick little product shoot for a brand of sea salt.

It’s something we can knock out from the sun lounge on “Savannah’s Charm” or even on the beach maybe. Just the models, waist up, ocean in the background holding the product and smiling. I’m leaning to the yacht, just for the environment control and privacy.

Naomi said she’d get the product models to us, so we can probably shoot late this week. (We’re hoping the real estate closing will be Thursday morning.). Sasha penciled in Friday with a set sail time of 7:00 a.m. That will get us into open water with plenty of time to get the shots done.

Ever seen those big round photography reflectors? Jason and Geoni will be using them to soften the light for the shoot. Amazon Prime, for the win!

Okay, that’s enough about that for now. I’ll let you know how the plan unfolds as the week progresses. Meanwhile, there’s a menu waiting for me down the street.

May you have joy and prosperity as your companions as you walk the course of your life.

Good night.

Be your best you!

"Thank You" Message to Paying Supporters:

Thank you very much for your help underwriting the cost of producing AGI Stories content. You can be sure that your paid membership is valued greatly! At the time of this post, not counting hardware, AGI Stories racks up expenses of just at $100 per month.

Patreon members… You are covering a nice portion of that.

I believe most of you who help with the costs are doing so because you want to support the production process and show your encouragement. That means so much to me! I am honored and greatly moved.

While most of the content on AGI Stories is free and much of it is public, the hope is that reserving a few pictures and small sections of the post for you is a modest indication of gratitude!

Again, thank you very, very much.
