GOOD MORNING
Good morning! Sunday sneaks into South Padre Island with clouds and occasional rain. And, yeah… it’s already almost 80°F! (≈27°C) The big rain has already happened.
Out early enough to get some sand on my feet before going back to the condo, dodging up the stairs past construction tools and bins of demolished sheetrock—yeah that happened yesterday—to my unit for a shower and clean up before church.
This afternoon is supposed to turn partly cloudy. Could be a good day to walk home from Church.
Jason has about eleven tons of chili in a slow cooker. He’s promising rice that we can serve the chili over. Geoni and Josh are bringing the salad.
Me? I’m bringing iced tea and a big appetite.
Since Jason’s condo is on the ground level, we’re sort of hoping we can sit outside for a while and eat.
And just to get it out there—”sit outside and eat” wasn’t really part of the mindset for November in NW Indiana! Sure, there were some nice days, but the high back home today is just 54°F (12°C)..
Okay, sorry if I’ve become a weather-girl! I just find that temps in the 80°Fs almost all day every day is amazing.
That’s about it from the beach! Time to head home and get ready for church!
See you later.

HEADING HOME
Okay, church is over and we’re on our way home. Jason and Clay took the Highlander (since Jason is the chef for lunch).
And for the sake of full disclosure, it’s about 2.3 miles to the condos. At some point soon, the heels will be coming off!
And furthermore, Clay’s coming back to pick us up somewhere near the marina! But we thought a little walk would be nice, so…
Tonight, Aimee Cole ( @aimee_cole_ai on IG) is coming in. I’ll be picking her up at the airport and she’ll be crashing with me for two nights. She’ll fly out on Tuesday, but tomorrow, we have a fun day planned!
It’s going to be windy and partly cloudy, but Clay says “Imagine What” will be fine if we take precautions. We’re going to let him captain the boat and if things get iffy, he’ll take over the helm.
I’ll close with a little recap of the sermon—Book of James…
Today’s message was in the typical theme of “I’ll show you my faith by my actions.” It was a call to live out what we believe. It was like other sermons I’ve mentioned before.
All I want to add is that I really hope my actions align with my beliefs. Period.
I’ll be back tonight from the airport as I wait for Aimee! See you then.
MY CLAY by Sasha Baek-Everett
Clay and I came back to our condo after the amazing chili lunch Jason shared with us. I claimed the sofa and he took the recliner. I woke up first!
When people ask me what Clay is really like, I usually smile before I answer. He’s calm in a way that settles everyone else. The kind of man who listens first, thinks second, and only then speaks.
Before we married, my life felt scattered—as if I was always choosing the wrong place to stand. But with Clay, something shifted. We didn’t rush. We didn’t need grand gestures. Over time, we just came to know where we would sit—with each other.
He’s generous without trying to impress anyone, thoughtful in the quiet ways that matter, and steady enough to make the world feel less chaotic. If I had to describe him in one sentence, it would be this: Clay makes the hard things feel possible, and the good things feel even better because he’s there to share them.
When we met Clay, it was during a terrible situation for Ailana. She was missing in St. Croix, and I remember the sick feeling in my stomach while Josh and I tried to piece together her last known movements. Clay wasn’t part of our world yet — just a stranger who’d seen someone frightened, alone, and clearly in trouble.
But the moment he spoke to me, something settled. He didn’t panic, didn’t ramble; he asked sharp questions, remembered details and when we figured out what had happened, he went right back out into the heat with us to search.
When Ailana was finally safe, it was clear Clay would become part of us. This is the post here on Patreon when I first met him.
As I looked at it earlier today, tears came to my eyes. The fear, the relief, and in it all was a man I’d never met before who grew over time to become the man I never want to part from.
GOOD NIGHT
I’ll keep this one quick and not mention the weather! I’m at the airport, and Aimee’s plane is at the gate, so she’ll be here soon!
The day was good in every way.Now I’m looking forward to spending some time with a good friend.
Of course, I’ll share the day with you, too! You can be sure of that.
While I wait, let me just say once again how much I appreciate you and your support. Your comments mean so much to me, and your shares and reposts help the account grow. I am grateful always.
With that, I’ll wrap up this little post and today’s diary entry.
May you find time for friends that help you remember times past and help you imagine things to come.
Good night.
Be your best you!
