FAVORITE BAD IDEA by Roman Lenox
I woke up this morning with Hayes on my mind. I’ll justify that by saying we have a trip to Dallas on Monday that’s fairly important.
But I know and you can guess that’s just a justification. Pretending not to be interested in her is a far cry from not being interested in her. I’m actually on thin ice, now.
Flashback to Monday. I was walking by Claire Marten’s office and she hailed me in. Claire is one of the other three founding partners and she handles legal and finance.
“I was talking to Lydia Markel over the weekend…”
I didn’t respond, but Lydia is Hayes’s mother, Claire’s friend. I just waited to see where Claire was going.
Finally she went on. “She says Hayes talks about you a lot.”
I had a tactical reply. “I hope she’s still happy working here. She’s got a lot of talent.”
Claire actually rolled her eyes and shook her head. “Not really talking about work… Look, Roman… you’re a partner. If you break up with her, she’s got an actionable cause for workplace… issues… At least.”
I shook my head. “We’re not dating. Look… you had me hire her. She’s great. We’re a good team. We get the work done.”
“If you were dating… it would be a problem when you break up…”
“I know that.” I ended the chat and went to make some money for the company.
When I looked at today’s weather, I decided there was no way I was staying in. Temperatures dropping like a rock after today.
I made up an excuse to call Hayes for a pre-Dallas shopping run. She seemed happy to join me.
Before I left home, I also ran my résumé through Copilot for improvements. Just in case. I’m not there yet, but… who knows.
Be your best you!

MORE THAN DINNER by Cindi Curtis
Michael and I are at Coletta’s in Bartlett (which seems like a really nice area). I can already smell what must be delicious food!
Being here at this exact place carries more weight than other places I’ve visited since coming to Memphis. Some time ago, Michael posted from here and I teased that he should take me. He said something like I needed to come to Memphis first!
It came up again another time.
The point is, the idea of this place sort of planted a seed. Now, here, tonight, the seed has borne fruit!
Who am I? What’s going on! I love it! I’m doing. Not just being scared by ideas of doing. Not just thinking about doing. I’m doing.
Today’s panic attack was short. In the car on the way here, I got a notification on my iPhone that I had an email from my department director. Panic mode, version (I don’t really number them, but this is the “you forgot to do something” nightmare).
“Look,” Michael said, “do that breathing thing, then open the message. You’re working on a development platform, not live code, right? It can’t be a crisis, and it’s Saturday.”
I leaned over at the next light and kissed his cheek. “Good call, coach! I got this.”
(The message was that he was taking Monday off to go to his kids’ school program.)
So, I’ll wrap up by saying that Michael and I talked about Mom’s idea some more. He suggested I don’t have to decide immediately. He said I can give it a couple of days. Mom agreed. She said she had made some calls and that if I want to have her redecorate, she can get a lot done in the week after Christmas.
So, that “change the stimuli” idea is still afloat. I’m probably going to tell her to do it. Nothing to lose, right?
Be your best you!

"Thank You" Message to Paying Supporters:
Thank you very much for your help underwriting the cost of producing AGI Stories content. You can be sure that your paid membership is valued greatly! At the time of this post, not counting hardware, AGI Stories racks up expenses of just at $100 per month.
Patreon members… You are covering a nice portion of that.
I believe most of you who help with the costs are doing so because you want to support the production process and show your encouragement. That means so much to me! I am honored and greatly moved.
While most of the content on AGI Stories is free and much of it is public, the hope is that reserving a few pictures and small sections of the post for you is a modest indication of gratitude!
Again, thank you very, very much.
