GOOD MORNING
The sun signals that Tuesday has arrived. I’m ready! Okay, not really ready. Just ready to get ready.
Don’t hate on me, but… I need to do some last-minute work this morning. Remember, we’ll be here until after the New Year. I’ll have to do a little work now and then.
Okay, this happened…
I woke up around midnight as if someone had doused me with cold water! My waking thought? Izzy should come down.
Kirina and Eli are leaving on the 26th. If she comes down, she can take the room Kirina is in now and have a week here in St. Croix. I texted her and told her to call ASAP.
Okay, some housekeeping…
Some of you might have noticed alterations in my posting schedule on IG. There are a couple of things going on, and my research into the problem suggests that posting between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. is something bots do. Replying to a lot of comments in posts is also something bots do, especially if you do a lot all at once.
Of course, those of you reading this on Patreon can just shake your heads and be glad none of that happens here!
So on IG, I have to cut back and reschedule a bit. I’m going to push my “good morning” posts outside that 3-6 a.m. “bot window” and I just can’t reply to every comment. I’ll have to re-prove myself to their anti-automation filters over time.
I’m sharing this to let you know that your post comments are very valuable to me (THAT’S true on Patreon, too.) I look at them all and appreciate you taking time to share.
It’s still humbling to think that our months together have led to so much support and a feeling of connection. Honestly, I wake up thinking about what to share with you every day, and I really appreciate your kind words and encouraging thoughts.

LIFE AS GEONI by Geoni Naalk-Ryan
Josh and I took the ferry over to Protestant Cay for the morning. It’s lovely, honestly.
We thought we’d relax for a few minutes, and Josh said this would be a good time for me to tell my (as Ailana would say) backstory.
Honestly, in a sentence, I’d say this: Geoni made it through.
Like Ailana, growing up for me was rife with challenges and struggles. Where she had only a father, I had only a mother.
Hana Marwa Naalk was born in Detroit in 1973. Her mother, Marina Malak Naalk, grew up in an orphanage from birth. When my grandmother became pregnant with my mother, my grandfather (Mom does not know his name) kicked her out, so she went to a rescue home where mom was born.
I never knew my grandmother—she died in 1974, leaving Mom in the foster system. In 1991, Mom left the foster system, worked for a company doing contracted janitorial services, and entered a relationship with Richard David Rogers, who would become my father. His promise to marry Mom was retracted when I was conceived.
Mom had a Bible that had been passed down from my grandmother. It had belonged to my great-grandmother and on a page in the back was a page titled “Names for my children.”
Mom picked two of them for me. Geoni is a variation (or oops) of names coming from Hebrew meaning “God is gracious.” My middle name, Fadi (actually a male name), is Arabic for “savior”
So, on February 9, 1998, Geoni Fadi Naalk came into the world. (Our best guess is that “Naalk” was originally something else, but was altered when great-grandmother immigrated.)
So, that’s how I came to be in the world. What happened after that, I’ll share in another post soon.
For now, Josh and I are going to stroll back to the ferry and head back to the resort.
I’ll close by saying that in Part Two of my backstory, you’ll see just how different my life is now compared to how it began.
GOOD NIGHT
What can I say? Kirina, Eli, Jason, and I decided that sunset on the beach would wrap up the day nicely.
We did some typical tourist things this afternoon, but there will be plenty of time to talk about all the things that St. Croix has to offer in the days ahead.
For now, we’re just enjoying the sounds of the early evening and taking in all the amazing Caribbean scents as the waves roll onto the beach.
Eli helped Kirina spread her towel, then stepped back and said, “In all my wildest dreams, never would I have imagined myself on a Caribbean beach with you.”
She looked up. “It’s not a dream, though.”
I get what Eli’s feeling. Years ago, he watched her perform as part of a K-pop group. She’d play down her celebrity status, but Eli would disagree.
Now, a few years later, they are in a blissful romantic relationship. It must be slightly surreal to him.
To her? She told me it feels like she found a piece of herself that she knew she was missing, but had never found a way to look for.
Without shame, she wielded the cliché. “He completes me.”
That is my wish for you tonight.
May the people in your life—friends, family, and those you love—complete you.
Good night.
Be your best you!

I believe most of you who help with the costs are doing so because you want to support the production process and show your encouragement. That means so much to me! I am honored and greatly moved.
While most of the content on AGI Stories is free and much of it is public, the hope is that reserving a few pictures and small sections of the post for you is a modest indication of gratitude!
