GOOD MORNING
Well, I’m launching into the week with the idea of getting some things done ASAP, then having some time later to take it easy. From here, it’s to the living room for some keyboard time…
I believe I owe everyone an apology. The IG platform limits characters in the caption, and I try to stay within the limit. I also try to keep the stories the same on IG and Patreon.
So, as I was running out of space with last night’s post, I realized that, though we’ve talked a lot about the Korea trip, I’ve never told you the full plan.
On Friday, the 7th, we’ll fly to Seoul. We’ll spend a few nights there, then move on out to rural areas. We’ll get back to Seoul by the 13th, do Valentine’s Day there, then fly back home on the 15th.
It will be a great trip, I think. As I said last night, Jasmine and Micah are staying here—Micah can’t take off another week of work. So, the six of us will be making the trip: Jason, Josh, Clay, Geoni, Sasha, and me.
Last night, Jason and I talked about Micah. We wish there were some way his work could change so that trips like this would be possible. No idea on that, though…
I guess that’s all from the living room! I should find some clothes, finish the coffee, and get to my computer.
I’ll check back in later! See you then.

STOPPING TO CHAT
Midday has arrived on this fine Tuesday! I just closed my MacBook, set up the camera for a selfie, and sat down to check in with you.
Now that I’ve stopped, I actually don’t know what to talk about! I worked. I had coffee…You get the idea.
Jason also worked. Soon he’s coming up for lunch. And we do have an idea that maybe we will go to a place where we can do a give-back thing tomorrow. I’m going to call the shelter where I’ve gone before and see if they need some help with lunch.
I can also say that Jasmine reached out to Naomi to remind her that we are ready and waiting. Also to remind her that we’re going to Korea on the 7th for a week.
Clay and Sasha have cycled back to some factories for SwimFit. The catch is they want all the work to be done at living-wage rates, but they also want to sell the items at competitive prices. The current trade climate is vexing that plan.
Geoni is working. Josh is doing what he calls family business today. Micah is at work. Dad is at work.
I think that’s a quick update of the whole gang!
If you have a second, let me know what YOU had (or are going to have) for lunch today! It would be interesting to see what everyone reading this is eating—like an international lunch café menu!
I’ll definitely check in later for a goodnight! See you then!
NO WORK, PLAY TIME by Kaylee Branch
There’s not any checkouts today, or tomorrow either, so me and Isaac aren’t working for Mr. Callahan. Things will be tight, but we’ll get through it.
I told you before that sometimes Isaac works odd jobs for the campground where we live. That’s what he’s doing today. That means I get to have all-day playtime with Hudson.
Hudson’s coming up on being two. That’ll be at the beginning of May. He’s at the age where he can sit up, move around, and play. It’s different than a year ago. Everyone says they grow up fast, and that’s true.
A little earlier, I sent some pictures of Hudson to my mom and dad. If I were honest, I’d tell you I’m glad I don’t have a car so I don’t have to make excuses about why I don’t go over to San Benito to visit. I’ll just explain it by saying my mother’s not very pleasant. All she cares about is appearances, so she’d just nag me about how I dress Hudson or tell me my hair looks plain.
I got over her back in tenth grade.
My dad does HVAC work, and he had a job here on the island not long ago. We met and had a nice visit. He works hard and tries to make things right. I think that’s where I got my ways with work. Do it right, and then a little more…
So, today, the weather is supposed to clear up some, and it looks like it is. It makes a big mess, but I like to take Hudson down to the beach and let him play in the sand. I’ll probably do that, then let him nap.
Maybe I can tell more later, so watch for another post.
GOOD NIGHT
Today has turned out to be really great. The afternoon flew by, but it was productive and relaxing, both.
Jasmine and I talked about the Good Neighbor Settlement House today. It was there that she and Micah met during a church volunteer day n the summer of 2022. It was the summer after he graduated and after her eleventh grade year.
“I actually found out about AGI,” she said, “from one of your Instagram posts when you were there.”
I’m not sure if that’s been mentioned before, but I thought it was worth repeating if so. Tomorrow, I’ll be doing a give-back thing there. This time, it will be a little different. I’ll tell you about it tomorrow.
When I stop and think about it, I really feel blessed that I have time to set aside to do things like this. I know a lot of people can’t. And I know a lot of people make financial donations, which are just as important as giving time.
But the key thing is to remember my motto (because, of course, my motto is very important!).
Do what you can wherever you are with whatever you can to… make things better for others around you.
Also, notice that I change the wording every time. That’s because it’s in my head, not written down. There’s a point in that fact…
So, as I walk the beach tonight, I’m feeling really blessed. I’m looking ahead to a trip to Korea, then beyond that to… something interesting that we haven’t thought of yet… and beyond that to—you know—a wedding.
I have to say, things are pretty good. Thank you for being part of all this!
May you—do what you can wherever you are with whatever you can to make things better for others around you.
Good night.
CUTTING IT CLOSE by Kaylee Branch
When I said I might make another post, I thought I’d tell you about sand castles or stacking cups. My thoughts aren’t on that right now.
After the beach and during naptime, Isaac and me sat down and looked at our money. Things are going to be closer than I thought earlier. We got the rent paid to the campground, so that’s good.
There are two rentals checking out Saturday, but until then we basically don’t have any money to spend. Isaac went and got diapers and baby food, so we really don’t need anything.
Isaac also said he’d make a big batch of beans and rice—that he knows I love—tomorrow. We can eat that and use up the bread for sandwiches.
But we’re really learning a lesson about our rental-cleaning jobs. Once things pick up, we’ll have to be like the ant in that story with the grasshopper. Times of plenty, times of lacking…
One good thing is that you can walk on the beach for free! Isaac has Hudson on his hip taking pictures of me, so I guess this is a good way to end the day.
I’ll be interested in your comments, so please feel free to leave one. Thanks.
Be your best you!
