GOOD MORNING
Happy Tuesday to everyone. I’m still in L.A. and am in the hotel lobby. I think I’ve mentioned before that I believe lobby coffee is better than room coffee from the little tiny machines. And maybe I like the vibe in the lobby better too—once I’m dressed and ready for the day.
The forecast for the next couple of days is cloudy, partly cloudy, rain, mostly cloudy—you get the idea.
So today, we’re going to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. I’ll share more on that later.
There’s a TGI Fridays here on the property that opens at 6:00 a.m. We’re going to hit it for a leisurely breakfast before we head out.
So, if you are counting cups of coffee here’s my count for the morning. One in the room. Two in the lobby (now). At least one more at the restaurant before I switch to iced tea.
Don’t judge! I blame jet lag!
I’ll be back later, so see you then.
LOS ANGELES COUNTY MUSEUM OF ART
If you want my opinion, we can easily spend the whole afternoon here. This place is amazing!
Being here feels like stepping into a conversation that’s been going on for centuries. It’s the largest art museum in the western United States, which sounds impressive on paper, but in person it feels expansive in a quieter, more thoughtful way. Galleries move from ancient pieces to contemporary installations without apology, as if history and now are meant to sit side by side.
And then there’s Urban Light outside—rows of restored street lamps glowing against the L.A. sky. I love places that let you wander without rushing. LACMA is that kind of place.
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art was founded in 1961, evolving from the Los Angeles Museum of History, Science, and Art. It’s operated by Los Angeles County and supported by a mix of public funding and private donors—very L.A. in that collaborative way.
Over the years it has expanded and reimagined itself, most recently with major campus redesigns that reflect how art—and cities—keep changing.
As of now, we’ve experienced hardly any of this place. We’re not in a rush to move, but you can bet Josh, Jason, and Geoni are in a rush to take notes and capture images as allowed by the museum.
I might come up with some different angle to write about, but nothing comes to mind yet.
I guess that’s enough for now, but I’ll definitely check in later for a goodnight!
See you then!
GOOD NIGHT
Indeed, we are in L.A., and yes—we found a Denny’s. And as you know, a lot of big changes in my life have happened at Denny’s. Tonight’s change, however, isn’t really all that big.
“The weather is dismal,” Clay said. “We should bail out and come back another time.”
Well, that cuts to the heart of the matter rather quickly. No one really disagreed.
“If we fly out tomorrow,” I said, “or even tonight, we could get back in time to help Jasmine with the sandal photo shoot.”
“I was thinking something different,” Clay replied. “What if we drive out in the morning and pick up a few days of road trip experiences for the content creation process… I can do the bulk of driving and you writer-types can… you know… create content.”
We discussed the idea a little, then Sasha weighed in. “Let’s call Jasmine and see what she would prefer. And we could split up… Some go back to help. Some ride back to gather more content ideas.
I called Jasmine to discuss the shoot, and she said, “Well, me and Kirina met up like you said and looked at ideas for the pictures. We practiced with the camera and everything. Honestly, I think we got this.”
We reviewed all that, then she added, “And we thought of something. Me and her are going to split the modeling and photography pay fifty-fifty, but we thought of an idea for AGI Creative. We think AGI should get 15 percent of the payment off the top for all the work that comes in. The work wouldn’t come in if it weren’t for AGI, and we got to pay for the studio and other expenses somehow, right?”
Sasha looked at the rest of us. “See! I knew we needed her on the team!”
I’ll close on that note.
May the people you share life with enrich your days and help guide you to being better versions of you!
Good night.
ACCIDENTAL HIDEOUT by Emily Amos
I accidentally found a new hideout. Mom stopped working through the whole night, but most of the time she’s still got business at least to 10:00 or so. I don’t want to be there when she works.
I’m in the bathroom of a thrift store near Carson Avenue. I came in for some clean socks and underwear since I haven’t had a chance to go to the laundry. I mean, like, not to put on now, but for tomorrow. And honestly, they got new packs of cheap underwear here for about what it'd cost to wash what I have!
Anyway, I was using the bathroom before I go hide out tonight before I go home. I found this big van parked in the El Cortez Parking Garage right up by a wall. It has four flat tires and hasn’t moved for weeks.
I took some cardboard and put it on the ground behind it in the corner. I can sit there and study or nap and no one has seen me so far. I’ve gone there three times already.
Well, I was just washing my hands and about to leave when the thrift store manager called out. “Anyone in there?”
“I’m washing.”
“I’m locking the door. You can open it from inside. Make sure it closes behind you, and go out the side door. The front exit’s closed.”
I heard the door lock, then she called out to the other bathroom, then I heard her go back into the store.
I propped open the door, went out, and yelled, “Thank you.”
Then I opened and closed the side door like I was leaving. I checked—it don’t have an alarm I could see. But… it’s a thrift store. Who’d break in?
I mean… besides me.
I’ll really go out that way later.
Now, I’m back inside the bathroom, locked away safe. It’s warm, too—much better than the parking garage. And to be honest, that little buzz of the fluorescent lights is kinda peaceful.
And no one’s honking or revving engines in here. I just have to make sure I don’t fall asleep too hard.
I’ve got to read a lot for my English class, so that’s what I’ll do for a few hours. I work at 7-Eleven tomorrow, so I won’t have to worry about where to hide out then.
I’m still counting down the days for this semester to end. I’ll miss my English teacher when it’s over, but that’s about all.
Be your best you!
