WEDNESDAY WINDFALL by Cindi Curtis

One look and I bet you can tell yesterday’s meeting that got scheduled for today has been pushed to Thursday! In fact, I have zero on-camera meetings today.

I have a plan. I’m going to bang out about two cups of coffee’s worth of function customizations BEFORE I hit the shower. I’ll be back at my desk before the office in Colorado opens—just-in-case blouse waiting in the wings for any unexpected on-camera meetings!

I have a conservation idea to share that comes in the wake of all the deliveries I’ve been getting. Let me set the stage…

Plastic trash bags are very functional for containing the mess in your trash can. They are also very, very slow to degrade in the landfill.

Google says:

“Plastic bags typically take 10–20 years to decompose in a landfill, though some estimates suggest they can take up to 1,000 years to break down fully. Instead of biodegrading, plastic bags break into smaller, toxic microplastics through photodegradation, meaning they never truly disappear.”

I cringe every time I take one to the trash bin.

Paper comes from trees, and tree harvesting contributes to deforestation. But trees can be replanted. It’s not a cut-and-dry alternative.

I have two things I’m doing. One is that I bought some biodegradable kitchen bags (I’ll add a screenshot.) A hundred bags, so the price is, in my opinion, comparable…

Now to those deliveries I was talking about…

If there’s a box that will fit on your counter, put it there before taking it to the bin. Put your K-cups, napkins, creamer packs, teabags—anything that won’t spill through into it over the course of the day, then take that out to the trash bin.

That’s one less plastic bag in the landfill!

I’ve talked too much, so consider this:

Genesis 2:15—The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. (NIV)

Our garden isn’t Eden; it’s planet Earth.

Be your best you!

Thank-You Message to Paying Supporters:

It is my belief that most of you who help with the costs are doing so because you want to support the production process and show your encouragement. I am honored and greatly moved.

I know that I share a LOT of content FREE TO ALL. I'd imagine that you understand why. The stories about giving back and helping seem like they shouldn't be exclusive. Certain plot moments need to be understood by anyone trying to to follow the stories.

With that in mind, I always consider you, the paid members, when deciding how to share content.

My hope is that reserving a few pictures and small sections of the post for you is a modest indication of gratitude!

Thank you very much for your help underwriting the cost of producing AGI Stories content. You can be sure that your paid membership is valued greatly! At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet connectivity fees) AGI Stories racks up expenses of just over $100 per month. Every supporter is helping!

Again, thank you very, very much.

WEDNESDAY WINDFALL by Cindi Curtis. Good morning, Cindi. My hat's off to you to be able to do that level of computer work before coffee, even. Well, Cindi, thanks for the conservation tip. Always appreciate those. Thank you for your book recommendation yesterday. I think. Looking into it. Have a good day.
