GOOD MORNING

The logistics experts deemed that a slightly relaxed morning was in order. I’m not arguing! I’m not arguing!

We’re waking up in Scottsdale, Arizona. The plan is to spend another six or seven hours moving and the rest of the time… not moving.

There’s a park pretty much on our route, so the plan is to take some time to explore it. It’s called Picacho Peak State Park. And I’ll just leave you with that for now!

Between now and then is the waking-up process. I’ll be easing into that, today.

Meanwhile, back in Texas… Today is the sandal photo session. Jasmine and Kirina are going to do that, but I’m on standby for FaceTime or phone calls as needed.

I’m pretty confident they’ll do great! And I’m sure you’ll get to see some of what they did.

I’ll check in later from the park and tell you what I learn about it between now and then. Keep watching for the next post!

PICACHO PEAK STATE PARK

Some places catch your eye and demand that you look twice. That just happened.

We pulled off I-10 because the mountain didn’t look real. It rises out of the desert like something sketched in pencil and then carved in stone. The saguaros stand around it like quiet witnesses—tall, patient, unbothered by traffic rushing past just a mile away.

Picacho Peak State Park sits between Phoenix and Tucson, which makes it feel like a pause button for road trippers. You don’t have to commit to a full expedition. You can just step onto a trail, breathe different air for an hour, and remember the sky is bigger than your inbox.

I like places that don’t compete for attention. Picacho doesn’t shout. It just stands there—sharp and steady—like it’s been waiting a few hundred years for you to notice. If you are remotely interested, I recommend taking a look at Google Maps—or just Googling it.

Of course, we’re taking pictures and notes. I’m not sure what to do with them yet, but when I figure it out, I’ll have plenty!

By the time we get home, we’re going to have a lot of great content options! For now, I want to see if I can get a little further along before it’s time to turn back and move on.

Naturally, I’ll check in later for a goodnight! See you then!

SANDALS! By Jasmine Banks

Well, I gotta say today was fun and we think we were very successful. We started early and really we were done pretty quick.

The biggest problem was that the shot list had different nail polish for different sandals, so Kirina helped me.

Have you ever seen the viral video of the comedian imitating a technician at a nail salon? Well, Kirina imitated that comedian!

“Ooo… Why you got no boyfriend? You pretty pretty girl. Oh, you married? Okay, then, your husband… he like fancy toenail polish?”

I had to ask her to stop so I could catch my breath!

We had to do one of the shots—according to the shot list—on the beach. I had an impulse and texted Kaylee to see if she was home and if she wanted to join us.

“Hudson’s napping and Isaac’s reading. Come to the campground and we can walk down from here.”

So that’s what we did. I introduced her to Kirina, and we went on down to the beach and took the pictures. And Kaylee took some of us working at the same time.

She said it looked interesting and asked why Kirina wasn’t modeling. I explained the job details about skin tone and showed her the shot list.

“That’s pretty cool,” she said.

When we went back, we peeked in on Hudson, and he was awake, so I got to hold him a little.

Now, don’t get any ideas about that. I like holding her baby. I’m not ready to have one of my own! Neither is Micah.

Anyway, I’ve got some images of the day to share. We really think we did good work. I sent some to Ailana and she said they looked great.

I’ll get them all sorted and send a batch to Naomi. That will be the real test, but Kirina says we did as well as anything we looked at online.

We’ll see what Naomi thinks—but I have a feeling this won’t be our last shoot.

That’s it for now. Thanks!

GOOD NIGHT

We’re in Historic Mesilla tonight, just outside Las Cruces, New Mexico, and blue hour is slowly taking over. The adobe walls are glowing under the string lights, and the air is about 55 degrees. Cool, but not cold. The kind of temperature that makes you want to walk a little slower than usual.

Las Cruces isn’t loud about itself. It doesn’t try to impress you. The Organ Mountains just sit out there in the distance like they’ve always been there (because, well, they have), and as the sun drops, the desert light softens everything. Edges blur. Colors deepen. Even the quiet feels warmer.

Technically, we’re in Historic Mesilla.

It’s only a few minutes from the rest of town, but it feels different. Smaller. Slower. Like the heartbeat of where Las Cruces began. The plaza is simple — adobe buildings, wooden doors that have clearly seen some years, a church façade that doesn’t need to show off. String lights stretch overhead, and somehow that’s enough.

Las Cruces keeps moving forward. Mesilla sort of… remembers.

There’s history here, but it’s not shouting at you from plaques or museum walls. It’s just there. In the way the bricks look worn. In the way the streets don’t quite line up perfectly. You notice it if you’re paying attention.

And that’s what we’re doing tonight. Not rushing. Not trying to “see it all.” Just standing here, letting the place be what it is. Sometimes that’s better than reading every fact first. Sometimes you feel it before you understand it.

Then sure—go Google it later and get the details to tie all everything together.

But first, just stand there.

Here’s what I hope for you tonight:

May life put you in places that fill you with awe and wonder, leaving you changed for the better and inspired for whatever comes next.

Good night.

Be your best you!

Perhaps it is time for Naomi Prior to come onstage. A most interesting person. I've been really wondering about her...many things, where she's based, etc. Is she single?? I wonder. 🤔.
