GOOD MORNING
I know what the title means. Does anyone know where that expression came from?
I couldn’t think of anything better for a title. There is trouble. Probably not in paradise, but rather at work.
My company has a client who had a guy—“had” being the operative word—who liked to develop database structures but hated developing documentation. My company layered a GUI over his queries and data calls. He tweaked our systems to mesh with structures he was not wont to fully explain.
Metaphorically, someone got sand on his lollipop. He didn’t sabotage anything, but he jumped to another company. That was at the beginning of the year.
Our client’s client now wants something slightly different. Let me see if I can illustrate this.
Imagine a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle poured onto a table. Every piece is solid white. No edges. No picture on the box.
Someone calls and says, “Hey, one of those pieces needs to be swapped out. Go find it.”
That’s about where we are.
Terrible metaphor.
Oh, guess who gets to hunt for the different piece? Me.
I’ll try to think of a different way to explain it.
Think of the most complex spreadsheet you have ever seen. Now imagine there are about 113 of them linked by various columns. But you don’t know which columns connect to which of the other 112 sheets. Every spreadsheet has at least one column called simply “idx” that probably means “index.”
Insert long discussion about SQL query syntax here.
I have a lot of work to do just to figure out where to begin. My goal? Finish before the wedding.
I need a Bible verse now.
Col. 3:15—Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. … 17—And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (NIV)
Be your best you!

Thank-You Message to Paying Supporters:
It is my belief that most of you who help with the costs are doing so because you want to support the production process and show your encouragement. I am honored and greatly moved.
I know that I share a LOT of content FREE TO ALL. I'd imagine that you understand why. The stories about giving back and helping seem like they shouldn't be exclusive. Certain plot moments need to be understood by anyone trying to to follow the stories.
With that in mind, I always consider you, the paid members, when deciding how to share content.
My hope is that reserving a few pictures and small sections of the post for you is a modest indication of gratitude!
Thank you very much for your help underwriting the cost of producing AGI Stories content. You can be sure that your paid membership is valued greatly! At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet connectivity fees) AGI Stories racks up expenses of just over $100 per month. Every supporter is helping!
Again, thank you very, very much.
