GOOD MORNING
I’m standing here debating how to start this post. Sometimes, I frustrate myself.
It’s Wednesday, meaning the workweek is half over. But is it? Mathematically, don’t we have to wait four hours until the middle of the middle day to say it’s half over?
When, exactly, do we get over the hump? If morning is the bottom of the hump, does that mean we have four hours of uphill before we get over it?
Okay, never mind. Happy Wednesday!
I’m going to work for a while this morning, then get dressed and go up to Laguna Madre Nature Trail. I’ll take some pictures and see about revamping an article I wrote about it a while ago.
Of course, I’ll drag you along with me! Come on! It will be fun!
See you soon.
LAGUNA MADRE NATURE TRAIL
One of the great things about South Padre Island is that it has a lot of biodiversity. I’m in an area that is between Sea Turtles, Inc. and the South Padre Island Convention Center.
Laguna Madre Nature Trail is one of my favorite quiet corners on the island. It’s a wooden boardwalk stretching over wetlands where you can see birds, fish, and sometimes the wind rippling the water like glass. It’s peaceful, open, and the perfect place to think without being interrupted.
The Laguna Madre is a shallow coastal lagoon that runs along the Texas Gulf Coast. It’s one of the few hypersaline lagoons in the world, meaning its salt levels can be higher than the ocean. The calm waters support seagrass beds, migratory birds, and an entire ecosystem unique to South Texas.
Laguna Madre isn’t just pretty water—it’s a living system that protects the coast and supports countless species. Its seagrass beds help filter water, reduce erosion, and provide habitat for fish and migratory birds.
When we understand how fragile it is, we realize preservation isn’t optional. Protecting it means protecting wildlife, local livelihoods, and the natural balance that keeps the Gulf Coast thriving.
And that principle applies to every other ecosystem, too. When we care for the places that sustain life—whether wetlands, forests, or oceans—we’re really safeguarding our own future.
With that, I’ll wrap up this post. When I get back home, I’ll create a folder on Google Drive and put the pictures and my notes into it.
In the days to come, I can probably write a couple of general articles and maybe three or four very specific ones from the paragraphs above.
Wish me luck!
I’ll be back tonight, so see you then.
SECRET REVEALED by Sasha Baek-Everett
By now, you’re probably about ready for me to stop fooling around keeping the plan a big secret. Okay, then…
Today is Wednesday. In the spirit of “drop everything and go,” AGI Creative is making a move on Monday.
The list of destinations given earlier pretty much gave away that there would be a trip coming up. That’s correct, but with a slight change.
On Sunday, we’re setting sail (literally) for a long cross-gulf cruise. We’re boarding “Savannah’s Charm,” shoving off, putting South Padre Island to the stern. The next port of call will be Mobile, Alabama.
From there, we’ll harbor-hop our way back home, stopping along the way to collect pictures and notes. Between the marinas as we sail west, the writers will have time to organize notes and even create final drafts. Work will go on even as we move from one place to the next.
The whole trip will take… a while. I’m sure details will be forthcoming, but we’ll be calling “Savannah’s Charm” home for weeks, not days.
There’s one more big plan in the works right now—that would be the new ideas for SwimFit. I have to say it really feels right.
However, I’ll bite my tongue for now. Clay has one more detail to work out before we drop the details for you.
Now Ailana can put away her Sherlock Holmes hat and start packing! We all have a lot of packing to do.
Also, Jasmine, Clay, and I will be doing some work stocking the lockers. To be completely honest, I love being part of the logistics needed to make a trip like this happen.
GOOD NIGHT
It feels good to make it to the end of the day. It’s especially nice when you get some things accomplished.
I suppose I shouldn’t have been surprised by Sasha’s plan. And I am definitely not disappointed. I’ve said before that I really like living aboard “Savannah’s Charm.” Naturally, I’m excited to stow my gear and shove off!
The actual travel is going to take a lot of time. The working plan is to sail at night where possible and have some time each day to gather notes and pictures for future content. I’ll share something that gives you an idea of how it all will come together.
The first leg is a long cruise across the Gulf. We’ll set sail on Monday and won’t reach Mobile until Thursday.
What does that mean for you?
Other images of Ailana, the rest of this pose, the message, and thank you that follow are exclusive to supporters…
Well, you’d better get ready to see a lot of blanket-in-the-berth goodnight pictures! And what’s funny is that I’m already planning that—I’m getting my favorite picture blankets washed and packed up!
Okay, maybe I’ll shoot a few in tank tops and T-shirts. Live dangerously, I suppose.
Let me wrap up (not literally, this time)…
May the things that surprise you bring joy and excitement and lead you to peace and contentment.
Good night.
Be your best you!
