Our wedding was a week ago, and we’ve had a great week in Hot Springs. Now it’s time to go home…together.

Most of you know this, but maybe you’ve forgotten how different everything feels when you are married. I knew it would be. I just didn’t know how.

Some things are obviously vastly different. But for reasons I suppose are as much metaphysical as they are psychological, even things we’ve done together in the past—like cooking, walking, and driving—feel qualitatively different.

For instance, morning coffee not only wakes me, but also awakens a feeling of connection to Michael. The smell of the coffee seems different as I see his sleepy face reflected in the cream.

We’ve worked out sharing the entirety of the days while sharing the same space now for a week. It has been amazing and we have become comfortable together.

Today, we’ll travel home to the house… our house in Bartlett.The weather, as if trying to tell us it’s time to go, has changed back to early spring conditions. The 80s have moved on and the 50s have returned.

So tonight, our lives together move from vacation mode to daily life mode.

I am sure walking the aisles at the Walmart Market will feel different, too.
