GOOD MORNING
It seems I start a lot of these diary entries by telling you what day it is. As I began typing this one, I stopped myself to ask why I so often do that. I don’t have an answer.
Happy Friday!
That’s sort of my plan for today. To have a happy day.
Oh, and to get a lot of work done. Yesterday was pretty nice, but I didn’t write very much. Nor did I edit anything. Too many days like that and suddenly I’ll have to stop saying I’m a writer. That… That is not the plan.
But the events of the last few months have added to how I see myself and what I do. The growth of AGI Creative has thrust me back into the role of model in front of the camera. It’s opened the door for me to be a photographer, art director, and everything related to being behind the camera.
According to Naomi, I’ve become a model coach. If she gets her way, there will be more and more opportunities for me to wear that hat in the months to come.
And according to the calendar, I’m about to become Jason’s wife. That is another new role for me to take up—one that has literally been coming into being since 2013, when I was a new freshman at Lowell High School and met Jason for the first time.
Now, if you ask me, that’s quite enough hats! But honestly, I feel like I can handle it all. And I think the best part is that I get to share all this here with you.
As I have said before, your interest and support make doing all this very satisfying. Thank you.
I’ll be back later, so see you then.

STORE RUN
This is going to be quick. I’ve been working, and it’s gone well, but I’m thinking about dinner and had the idea to grill some chicken and do baked potatoes. A quick run now will make that possible.
In order to get back in time to make good use of my afternoon work time, I’ll keep this short!
My dinner plan is to roll out the grill and slow-cook bone-in chicken breasts. I’m commissioning Jason for baked-potato duty and backup grillmaster! Dad always says the key to grilling chicken is to go slow. Sear the meat side, then cook it mostly bone-side down. Keep the grill lid down and let the magic happen!
That’s always been my approach, and that’s the plan for tonight.
That said, I’m going to get going so that I can get home and back to work. I hope you’re having a great day. Feel free to share anything interesting you’re up to!
I’ll be back later, so see you then.
IT’S HAPPENING by Josh Ryan
You may recall that back in December, Geoni and I started the adoption process. It has been a long road, but we believe we are nearing a very important stage.
We flew into Reno last night, got settled, and earlier this morning, we met with a caseworker here. We spent time talking through the process, looking at files, asking questions, and trying to keep our hearts open without getting ahead of ourselves.
That last part is harder than it sounds.
Adoption is strange in that way. You have to be practical, careful, patient, and realistic—but you also have to let yourself imagine a future that might completely change your life.
On Monday morning, we’ll meet with some teens here in Reno. After that, we’ll move on to other cities later in the day and keep following the schedule we’ve been given.
It will be a lot of travel, but we’re up for it.
For those who have asked what happens next, the simplest version is this:
First, we meet.
If the child is interested and we believe it could be a good match, everyone moves on to the next steps.
After that, if the necessary approvals line up, a child may be permitted to visit with us while final documents, court steps, and other requirements move forward.
That’s the broad overview. Obviously, there are people involved in every step who know far more than we do, so we’re trying to listen carefully and move at the right pace.
So tonight and this weekend, Geoni and I are trying to relax and make sure we’re ready for what’s to come. Outside the window, Reno is glowing. Our bags are still sitting nearby, only partly unpacked.
This is the first stop of several, worked out through a lot of conversations with caseworkers.
We don’t know what happens next, and we’re trying not to pretend we do. Still, tonight feels like one of those moments where life is quietly opening a door.
So we’ll rest, pray, listen, and be ready for Monday.
Thanks for following this part of the journey with us.
GOOD NIGHT
Tomorrow is May 16, which means it is exactly one week before the wedding. Somehow, that feels weighty!
Dinner was great. I cooked for Jason, Clay, Sasha, Jasmine, and Micah, and no one complained! I call that a win! There was something extra good about the baked potatoes—let’s say they were a grade better than a typical night—but basically, it was a nice comfort-food meal.
I’m excited in a good way. I said before that the wedding feels like a transition from what life is now to a new, exciting routine. I’m really looking forward to learning how to live in that new situation.
Today, perhaps, foreshadowed the days to come. The day came and went, leading to time with friends, work, and the chance to share things with you. I even worked in a trip to Walmart for groceries!
Over the course of The Journal, I’ve said that what is shared here is authentic slices of life. And that, I think, is the best way to describe what gets shared here. It is a great honor to me that you are interested.
It’s my hope that the things shared here are little, interesting moments of life that come from the days as they happen. And I hope you enjoy them.
I’ll add that with so many things about to change, this would be a great time to invite others to join the story. If you know people who would like the things shared here, tell them about it.
With that said, I’ll wrap up for today with my default closing.
May you grow attentive to the world and the people within it—learning what matters, choosing what is good, and acting where you can. May you become more fully yourself, offering help when it is needed, caring for creation, and leaving each place better than you found it.
Good night.
Be your best you!

Message to Paying Supporters:
Thank you for helping support AGI Stories.
I always consider you—the paid members—when deciding how content is shared.
I believe that most of you who help with the costs do so because you want to support the production process and show encouragement. I’m honored and truly grateful.
At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet costs), expenses run just over $100 per month—so every supporter truly makes a difference.
Nevertheless, I share a lot of content free to all. I believe you understand why. Stories about giving back and helping shouldn’t be exclusive, and key moments need to be accessible for anyone following the stories.
My hope is that sharing a few exclusive photos and small portions of some posts with you serves as a simple expression of gratitude.
With that in mind, again, thank you very much.
