GOOD MORNING

I mentioned on Friday that I was doing a little code upgrade for Roman. I thought I had mentioned that I had some concerns, but looking back, I don’t see where I did that.

Today, I decided to… ahem… confront Roman about it.

I’m exaggerating by using “confront,” but in a way, it feels that big to me. I needed to tell him he made a mistake. Not that the solution won’t work. It will. It’s just not the best way to proceed.

I called.

“Um… Roman? Hey… How was church?”

Okay, so I hedged a bit, then got to the point.

“I wanted to say I’m not happy with the outcome of the SwimFit project.”

“It works perfectly,” Roman replied.

“Here’s the problem. We just customized one of your basic apps to meet the client’s needs.”

“How’s that a problem?”

“Now you have two inventory management apps to support, not one. Making a custom version for SwimFit means any changes you ever make have to be made twice.”

Roman said nothing for a really long time. It felt like weeks according to my anxiety. The clock would probably say it was three seconds.

“Okay, Inventory Tracker Code, Phase II… you up for some more billables?”

“Wait, what?”

Roman cleared his throat. “You’ve seen the system. You see a problem. Sketch me a straw-man solution that overcomes the problem and allows different implementations for different needs. Scale the app up to make it more universal. You have some ideas off the top of your head?”

“I do. A few columns here and there, then code the input form so it knows how many fields each customer needs.”

“Okay, start there. Bill me for six hours of you just looking at the app and dreaming up how the inventory-tracking program can become next-generation.”

“I’ll have something when you get back from… wherever you’re going this week.”

“Deal.” We chatted about his trip with Hayes, then said goodbye.

And I’m out of characters available for this post. But that happened.

Message to Paying Supporters:

Thank you for helping support AGI Stories.

I always consider you—the paid members—when deciding how content is shared.

I believe that most of you who help with the costs do so because you want to support the production process and show encouragement. I’m honored and truly grateful.

At the time of this post (not counting hardware or internet costs), expenses run just over $100 per month—so every supporter truly makes a difference.

Nevertheless, I share a lot of content free to all. I believe you understand why. Stories about giving back and helping shouldn’t be exclusive, and key moments need to be accessible for anyone following the stories.

My hope is that sharing a few exclusive photos and portions of some posts with you serves as a simple expression of gratitude.

With that in mind, again, thank you very much.

Confront? I like that term Cindy. It's good you speak clearly with Roman and it's interesting Roman is aware of how serious the problem is so, paying you great for the work id fair. Hoping everything is solved soon.

GOOD MORNING. Good morning, Cindi. So, LDM is the SwimFit connection? That actually makes perfect sense. And you called and "confronted" him yourself? That right there shows that you are not the same girl who first came here. You have grown so much as a person and carved a new identity in this space. I think that marriage has helped you blossom in a way you could never have foreseen. Back to Roman, I have full confidence that, between the both of you, the problem can be solved. So impressive! Thanks for your post, Cindi, and have a great day!
