Chapter 118: READY TO GO by Emma Knox

It’s Sunday morning, so I suppose you can guess why I’m dressed like this. I’m not sure it matches very good, but Hannah said I look fine.

After church today, most everyone is going to go out for lunch. Since Noah is working, I decided I’d save money and come home. There’s plenty to eat here, and, like I’ve said a few times, I don’t have a lot of money to spare.

But that’s just how it is. I’m not complaining. I’m just trying to live responsibly. Noah and me talk about this sort of thing often. He’s doing okay on his EMT pay. Since moving here with his rent covered, he’s saved up some money, to tell the truth.

Like I’ve said before, right now, me and him are taking things slow and steady. We don’t have a plan and not even a promise, but we agree that what we have is pretty perfect. So cutting back here and there and saving a little as we go—at least we think—is just taking some steps that would make a life together better in the future.

And if we break up, there’s no harm in having some money saved, is there? Me and Noah talked with Kent one day about saving money. Kent was all for it.

He said, “Being in debt means you’re stuck. Having money saved means you have options.”

Anyway, I didn’t mean to get into all that. I just meant to say I was going to church and coming home afterward while a lot of the others go get lunch.
