Chapter 151: A LITTLE WORKED UP by Emma Knox
Well, it’s Tuesday, and I’m getting married on Saturday. Somehow, today it hit me.
Now you might be thinking that I’m having second thoughts, but that’s not it at all. What hit me was that this is the life I didn’t know I needed. Does that make sense?
I was born in Vicksburg and grew up as a tenant farmer’s daughter. That little house in Eads is like a nicer version of the kind of house I spent my whole life in. It’s nice. It’s familiar. It’s me.
The grass around the house seems right. Even the gravel driveway seems right. And, yes, the hot, humid June afternoon seems right.
Now, when I think about living there with Noah, it seems even better. I know we weren’t planning on getting married this summer. But all I can say is that I really feel at peace about it—and that seems right, too.
So, when I say I’m worked up over it, it’s in a good way.
That’s all I have to say today. I’m helping Noah get everything packed into his Civic so he can get on the road tomorrow. Kent took the rest of the week off, and he’s making the drive with Noah, so that makes me feel better.
See you next time. Thanks for reading my story.
