MONDAY MORNING by Cindi Allen

Good morning, everyone. I’m standing in our bathroom in Bartlett with coffee in hand, trying to finish getting ready before the workday gets away from me.

It’s Monday, and I have a busy week ahead. I’m still doing a lot of work on Roman’s applications. The focus on making the whole system easier to grow. I’m redesigning parts so they can be adapted for different businesses without rebuilding everything from the beginning. That means cleaner workflows, more flexible settings, and an easier path from customer setup to actual use.

A lot of this work happens underneath what people see. But if we do it right now, Roman will be able to serve more customers later without every new deployment becoming its own special project.

The garden is beginning to reward us, too. The cucumbers are coming in fast, the tomatoes are finally turning red, and several bell peppers are getting large enough that I keep checking them every morning. There is something satisfying about carrying food into the kitchen that was still growing outside a few minutes earlier.

My gardening tip today is to harvest cucumbers regularly, even when they seem a little small. Picking them often encourages the plant to keep producing, and younger cucumbers are usually more tender. I also try to water near the soil instead of over the leaves, especially early in the day.

That thought about steady care carries into my devotional this morning.

Colossians 3:23 says, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”

Not every useful thing looks impressive while we are doing it. Sometimes faithfulness looks like rewriting code, pulling weeds, watering roots, or preparing for a week nobody else can see yet. God can use careful work just as surely as visible work.

So I’m going to finish this coffee, clear the bathroom counter, and get started.

I hope your Monday begins with purpose and peace. Thanks for spending part of your morning with me.

BLESSED AGAIN by Emma Vale

Well, you can see I’m at Walmart shopping for things for the bathroom.I’m also going to pick up some blouses for an office job. I got a job at Southwest Tennessee Community College!

I’ll work in the Student Services Counseling Center doing office work and sometimes covering reception. That means answering phones, greeting students, helping people figure out where they need to go, and handling office tasks.

The job posting closed first. About a week later, I got an email offering me the position. It had two choices—YES to accept or NO to decline.

I clicked YES.

I checked twice first because I was scared I might somehow hit the wrong one.

Then I had to wait for a second email. They said it could take anywhere from two hours to a full day, so of course I kept checking my phone.

When it came, it confirmed that I had officially been hired and told me to report to Human Resources for orientation and onboarding.

My orientation is Monday, July 6.

They usually hold orientations on the first and third Mondays, and mine should take most of the day. They’ll go over insurance, benefits, my ID badge, employee email, parking placard, and the paperwork I need.

My supervisor should also email me that day with instructions for the training specific to my job.

Most new employees begin work the Monday after orientation, so I expect my first day will be Monday, July 13. I’ll know for sure once I get the details.

I’m excited, but nervous, too.

This is my first job in Tennessee, and it is at the same college where I’m trying to continue my education. I like that I’ll be around students and people who help them solve problems. It feels connected to what I want to do.

Noah says we need to celebrate. I told him clicking YES on an email probably does not require a fancy dinner.

He disagrees.

So I have a job, an orientation date, and one week to worry about what I’m supposed to wear.

Thanks for reading my story.

MONDAY MORNING by Cindi Allen. Good morning, Cindi. Nice to hear from you. Ok, first off, love the green shirt. Now, I didn't realize the garden was so far along. Should have realized. Girl with a greenhouse in Colorado is definitely going to have a substantial garden here. That's a good verse, Cindi. Thanks. And it applies to many things. Thanks for your post. Have a great day!
