GOOD MORNING by Ailana Geven Keller
By now, many of you know that when I have a full schedule, I get panicky about running late. This is not the first time I’ve tried to save time by doing two things at once—showering and posting a chapter. I’ve also said that this is a lot easier with Jason controlling what’s in the camera frame.
Today is, as I said, all hands on deck for a big photo shoot at the studio. Today is a little special because our modeling agent, Naomi Prior, is here—and she’s going to model, too. She’s also the woman who keeps sending business to AGI Creative.
I also mentioned that Jasmine and Kaylee flew to Denver last night for a full-day shoot. They’ll be back tonight.
Since I’m repeating myself, Kent, Emily, and Jenna are working with Isaac to keep things going at First Call Property Services while Kaylee is out of town. I heard Emily talking to Jenna on the phone saying how cute Hudson was.
So I can sum things up and close this chapter.
I’m awake. I’m almost clean. There’s a lot of today waiting for us, and I’m taking you with me!
See you soon.

BLACK-AND-WHITE STYLES by Ailana Geven Keller
We’re well into today’s shoot, with plenty still to come. To save time while sharing one look from each model, I asked ChatGPT to give every shot a quick introduction.
Here goes…
I open the collection in sweeping black-and-white curves. My manicure completes the idea: one hand black and one white, each opposite the dress panel beneath it.
Isabela makes simplicity powerful. Her fitted black dress creates one uninterrupted line, sharpened by white heels and nails.
Naomi brings the authority of an agent and the ease of an experienced model. Her black blazer frames a column of white, finished with black nails.
Kirina gives the theme a youthful spark. A sculpted black bodice meets crisp white shorts, with her black manicure landing at the point of greatest contrast.
Geoni takes a softer approach. A translucent white top floats over black joggers, while white nails add bright punctuation against the pants.
Vanessa gives monochrome an effortless summer polish, balancing a white crop top and manicure against a long black skirt.
Min turns athletic separates into sharp street style. Her white blazer, nails, and heels elevate the black bandeau and fitted shorts.
Izzy keeps it playful without losing the edge. Her black crop top and heels frame a bright pleated skirt, echoed by black nails against white fabric.
Sasha closes the set with modern layers. Sheer black sleeves soften a gray top above a white pencil skirt, neatly framed by black nails and heels.
ChatGPT did pretty well! Now I’m handing the words back to the humans and getting back to the shoot. There’s more work, more laughter, and a lot more black-and-white fashion ahead.
See you later!
MEANWHILE IN DENVER by Jasmine Banks
Me and Kaylee are in Denver modeling. That much we know. We don’t have any idea what the shoot is for, but we’re not complaining.
But we are talking to each other.
They called the first set “the Dungeon.” It looks like the outside of a museum to me, but I sure didn’t argue. Kaylee was coming off the set when I was in line to go on, so we talked a little.
“Why is your hair wet?” I asked.
“I don’t know. Why am I barefoot and wearing a leather vest?”
I shook my head. “You didn’t ask, did you?”
“No way.” She smiled. “I don’t want them mad at me. I did what they said. And I wore the vest exactly like they told me to.”
“I’m not asking either,” I said. “I’ve never seen Styrofoam look so real. This is crazy.”
“I know, right?”
Later, they moved us to another place they called “the Tomb.” That made no more sense than before. The outfits sure didn’t have anything to do with the sets.
Kaylee and I were in line to go in front of the camera, and she said, “What are you supposed to be dressed like?”
I shrugged. “Like the art director told me to be.”
She nodded. “Good point. Look at me—I’m Lara Croft or something?”
I smiled. “At least your hair’s not wet.”
“Jasmine, you think this is like a promotion for a circus or something? I mean the outfits…”
I told her I couldn’t even guess. And we wouldn’t dare ask anyone in charge. We don’t want to get a reputation for being problems.
Anyway, it’s gone like that all day. We’re tired and confused, but you know what?
The check will cash.
GOOD NIGHT by Ailana Geven Keller
You’d think after a full day of modeling, I’d be ready for something different. This is different.
Toward the end of the day, Kent brought Jenna and Emily to the studio. They were interested in what was going on and seemed to have a good time. Jenna’s dad, Dan, picked them up and dropped Emily off at home.
When I got home later, she was wearing her swimsuit and sitting in the living room with my camera. “Will you go to the beach with me and let me take your picture?”
Of course I said yes.
“I thought you were a writer,” I said.
“I am. I just wanted to play around.”
She had me model for her, but that wasn’t why we came to the beach. She wanted to teach her big sister a lesson.
“I told Jason to tell you what I said when we were making chicken last night.”
It felt as if a rock had dropped into my gut. “He did.”
“Ailana, you’re good enough. You’re good enough for me and good enough for Jason.”
She seemed awfully sure for a sixteen-year-old. “I don’t know, Emily. I don’t really want to think about all that right now. I’m here for you, no matter what. I’ll do my best to give you what you need.”
“That’s what I mean,” Emily said. “You keep promising to do your best as if being loved is something you have to earn.”
I smiled for the camera. “I just don’t want you to worry.”
She took a few pictures and had me pose one way, then another. “But I am worried. Our mother is an evil witch. I had years to figure out she was the problem. You only knew she left, so you decided you were the problem. Seriously? She left her daughter!”
“Emily,” I said, “can we talk about this later? I promise, I’ll do my best to give you what you need. I just hope I’ll be good enough to do that.”
She took another picture. “You’re plenty good enough for me. I’m the luckiest girl in the world because of you. And I don’t want you thinking you’re not doing things right.”
I told her I’d think about what she had to say. I don’t know if I believe her yet.
But I believe that she believes it. Maybe that’s where I start.
Good night.
Be your best you!
