GOOD MORNING by Ailana Geven Keller

Good morning. As you can see, I’m at the airport. It’s a travel day.

Have you ever thought about modern travel compared to… say the 1600s? In the 1600s, travelers in what would become the United States often measured a good day’s progress in a few dozen miles… per day. Not much changed until the 1800s when trains and riverboats made 100 miles in a day possible.

Now? A 737 can fly at 500 miles… per hour.

Let’s say our trip today is roughly 1,400 miles. Even at 40 miles per day… that would be about 35 days on horseback!

Think about it… you can jump in your car and make a trip that would have taken all day in less than an hour on an open interstate highway.

A 10-minute trip in a car… call it five miles with light traffic. On foot, that might have taken close to two hours.

I forget to keep things like this in perspective sometimes.

Now, some of you want to remind me of lines at the airport, delays on the taxiways, and all that. I once knew a man who could drive from the Dallas suburbs to his company’s Houston office slightly faster than he could drive to DFW, park, get to the gate, fly to Houston, pick up a rental car, and drive to the office.

But I’m not thinking about that. I’m thinking about the fact that in less than a day, I’ll be roughly 1,400 miles from here—a feat that would have left Lewis and Clark slack-jawed.

With that, I’d better make sure I don’t miss my flight!

DOUBLE SURPRISE by Ailana Geven Keller

I think someone said it wrong. We had to land in Nashville and change planes.

About half an hour ago, a crew member came over the intercom and said we were diverting to Nashville because of what they called a “routine mechanical issue.”

If you ask me, you can’t put “routine” and “mechanical issue” in the same sentence—especially when you’re 30,000 feet in the air!

But as Jason, Emily, and I were making our way to the new gate, I ran into my friend and fellow Instagram creator, Wendy Williams.. She is on her way home after a few days here in Nashville.

She came here for the Kindling Arts Festival, which ran Thursday through Sunday, then stuck around for some sightseeing. Pavement played the Ryman Auditorium Monday and Tuesday, with Soccer Mommy opening last night’s show—and Wendy was there. Now, she’s going home.

If you don’t know Wendy, you really ought to check out her content. She’s thoughtful and creative, and she gives real consideration to things that matter. She’s fun and entertaining, for sure, but don’t be surprised if you find yourself thinking, too!

Well, we have different planes to catch, so I’ll wrap up this chapter and spend the next few minutes chatting with her.

I’ll be back later, so see you then.

CURRENT THEORY by Geoni Ryan

Today’s work from Naomi is, I think, pretty interesting. There’s a boutique fashion company out of Austin called Current Theory, and we’re shooting a package for their end-of-summer line.

They specialize in limited-run coastal streetwear—clothes designed to move between beach towns, music festivals, cafés, and nightlife without looking like conventional resort wear.

Their summer capsule, Color Current, is built around saturated color pairings, loose silhouettes, visible layering, and pieces meant to be mixed rather than worn as complete matching outfits.

This kind of styling is perfect for Kaylee’s build. I think you’ll agree when you see some of the images.

They sent ten outfits for an update to their website catalog that they want completed by August 1. It’s going to be a push to get them all shot, but we’re ready.

Clay brought the RV over last night. Jasmine and I packed all the outfits into the bedroom closet. We’ve got the galley set up for makeup. All we have to do now is get to the locations.

Jasmine and Josh are in the Honda scouting locations for the remaining looks. We’ve finished a few, but we still have more to go. Sasha is with me assisting, and Clay’s driving the RV.

It’s been interesting doing this without Ailana here. And without Jason shooting beside me, I’ve found myself wondering whether I’m missing an angle.

But overall, I feel confident about how it’s coming together. Let me know what you think.

And thank you for taking the time to check out this chapter.

GOOD NIGHT by Ailana Geven Keller

It’s great to be home. I had a wonderful trip to Italy and then New York.

I had a chance to catch up with some friends and make some new ones. I met with Meredith Sinclair, and we came up with some great ideas for the Cloudfall series.

Now, if we can find time to get those ideas onto the page!

I believe I’m going to stay put for a few weeks. Emily and Kel start school on August 10, and Emily’s final hearing is on August 11. Between now and then, I think we all have a lot to do to catch up and get ready for the fall.

It looks like weekly modeling shoots are going to be the norm. That’s what Naomi has planned. I don’t know whether I’ll share every one in detail, but if you let me know you really enjoy them, I’ll try.

Between the airport and home, Emily wore out both of her thumbs catching up with Jenna and Brooks. There seems to be some lamenting going on over Izzy moving into what used to be Emily’s room and the sleepover that never happened.

Guess who has a secret plan? Emily. All she told me is that she’s going to talk to Sasha about something. I’m not even going to try to guess.

They’ll let me in on the secret when I need to know. I trust Sasha—and I actually trust Emily, too.

I’m going to share an extra thought and thank-you with Supporters in an Afterthoughts post—but for now, I’ll close this chapter with my default blessing.

May you grow attentive to the world and the people within it—learning what matters, choosing what is good, and acting where you can. May you become more fully yourself, offering help when it is needed, caring for creation, and leaving each place better than you found it.

Good night.

Be your best you!

AFTERTHOUGHTS by Ailana Geven Keller

I wanted to check in with all of our supporters on both Patreon and Instagram.

I’m happy to be home. The next few weeks should be pretty steady around here. Emily and Kel start school on August 10, and Emily’s hearing is on August 11.

We feel confident the judge will make Emily’s placement with us permanent.

If things go according to plan, the entire AGI crew will remain in SPI until sometime after the hearing. Naomi insists she’ll keep sending modeling work our way. I hope you all like that.

In closing, let me thank you for your support. Little by little, as the months have passed, your support has come closer and closer to covering my actual production costs. Lately, I’ve been receiving some generous tips through the Tip Top Jar system, and they have been amazing!

I really appreciate all of your ideas and comments, too. I can’t even begin to tell you how many things have come to pass because of your encouraging words and suggestions.

When I think of Cindi Curtis… She’s now Cindi Curtis Allen in a large part due to your kind words supporting her and encouraging her to try things.

And when I think of myself and Jason—well, you know how hard my doubts made that whole process! Now, you’re all helping me to be the wife and sister I need to be.

So, your words are not wasted. Your advice is not ignored. They really make a difference!

GOOD MORNING by Ailana Geven Keller. Good morning, Ailana! Big travel day for you. I see that you are philosophizing about the miracles of modern travel. I agree with you it is a true modern marvel. I am just grateful that I live today and not in the 1600s. Not just travel, but all aspects of life are better today than then. I wish you ... and yours... safe travels.

DOUBLE SURPRISE by Ailana Geven Keller. You made me smile. But no, "routine" and "mechanical issue" don't go together, especially concerning an airplane... in flight! When I first saw the photo of you and Wendy together, my first thought was that, since the two of you had accidentally met up, you were going to plan to do something together in Alaska. Glad she was doing something else entirely. But also glad the two of you had a nice, if brief, visit. Perhaps she can make a return visit to South Padre. Those were fun.

CURRENT THEORY by Geoni Ryan. Hello Geoni. An interesting post from you. This was sort of a field test for AGI. Can we pull this off without our creative director actually, um, here directing. From these photos, I'd say you did just fine. And you showed us readers you are perfectly fine handling photo duties solo. The photos are terrific. Kaylee is a natural, isn't she? Isaac is a lucky, lucky man. Thanks for posting.

GOOD NIGHT by Ailana Geven Keller. You say you'll stay put, and you might even try. I'll believe it when I see it. AGI is agile as well as creative, so when the phone rings... Anyway, we are always interested in the shoots. We don't expect you to be able to show them all, but we trust your judgment to show highlights of what you can. Emily is a teenager. There will always be a secret plan. I bid you goodnight. 🌙.
