SOLID START by Emma Vale

Well, July is about to come to an end, and I gotta say I feel like I’m off to a solid start.

I sort of like that my school is where I take classes and work. For one thing, that means I don’t have to drive as much. It’s just really convenient.

I’m doing pretty good in my classes. I’m all caught up for now and I’m keeping an eye on the syllabus for assignments that are coming up, too.

My work is good, too. I don’t want to say it’s boring, but it’s really just showing up and doing what the bosses ask me to do. I sit at the desk a lot and welcome visitors to the building like a receptionist.If it’s a student coming in for counseling, I show them a room they can sit in privately until the counselor can see them.

Me and Noah are starting to feel like our place out in Eads really is our home. We got the whole kitchen set up, plus we got our bed and mattress from Amazon. We found a nice chest of drawers and dresser that kinda match at an estate sale, so we can say the bedroom is done, too.

We’re not fussed about getting the living room set up in a hurry. We don’t have much reason to just sit there right now, so the empty room doesn’t bother us.

Noah gets off at five on Friday, so Jordan and Carter are coming out for hamburgers. Me and Noah are doing the meat and buns, and Carter and Jordan are doing the rest of the food. It’s going to be hot, so we’re going to eat in the kitchen.

After we get done with dinner, Jordan says we can go out to the Sonic in Oakland and get ice cream. That’s just something to do for fun so we can hang out longer. It’s real nice to have some people to spend time with.
