GOOD MORNING by Ailana Geven Keller

I’m starting today with laundry and a recap of yesterday. Seems like a plan…

You may recall that I claimed Izzy is the center of the universe, making South Padre Island the epicenter of everything. (That’s just a theory…)

Izzy used to be part of an organization called the Pay It Forward Society. For reasons I don’t understand, it went offline, but now Nick Fashola is in charge and is working on getting it going again. Nick set up an office at the Sapphire condominiums—or, according to Google Maps, My Sapphire.

Nick asked Will Robertson and Tom Jenkins to come down for a meeting. This is relevant because Will Robertson is friends with Meredith Sinclair, my collaborator on a novel. When I was in NYC, I suggested that she have some promotional pictures taken. Since Will is coming here, they decided to travel together. I’ll get to meet with her again this weekend, and we’ll take those promotional pictures.

Also, Izzy (and I) started modeling for Naomi Prior back when I was a sophomore in college. Naomi has been using AGI for a lot of photography and modeling projects—the plan is for weekly work. Naomi has also been using us to give new models a sort of boot camp experience.

Naomi wants to run a modeling job and new-model boot camp on Wednesday. She also wants to model in it again.. She and her husband, Steve, are coming down for the weekend.

So there’s your Izzyverse update!

Meanwhile, Emily and her friends have enlisted Kaylee and Jasmine to “be the adults” for a sleepover on Savannah’s Charm. That happens Monday. Last night, Emily wanted to make sure I wasn’t mad that the girls wanted the younger adults to supervise them.

Last night, she and I talked about her place in my life. She worries that she ruined things for Jason and me. I told her she didn’t.

“I know me being here changed everything for you.”

“Honestly,” I replied, “it did—but in a good way.”

“But not what you expected as a newlywed,” she replied.

“No,” I said, “but maybe it was what I needed.”

And that’s where I think today should begin.

SAFE POISON by Ailana Geven Keller

AGI got a call a few hours ago to create a quick promotional image for a local lawn-care company.

I can’t remember if this is the first time I’ve shared a picture we did for them or not. I feel like I might have done so once before. Maybe it was a different company…

The message they want to convey is that people and pets can return to the treated lawn shortly after the product has dried. Basically, they wanted shots of a model sitting in the grass.

Jason and I came to Queen Isabella Memorial Park to take the shots.

I’m not disputing their claim, by the way. I just find the phrase “safe poison” a little oxymoronic. I will definitely concede that things that kill weeds can be very different from things that harm mammals.

I guess I should go on to say that there are weed killers that won’t kill grass. How specific is that!

Now, you might be thinking I’m coming to some salient point. Alas, that is not so much the case.

I should just sit here in the grass and smile, right?

Hope you’re having a great day. I’ll be back later, so see you then.

FIRST CALL UPDATE by Isaac Branch

I’m here to check in on behalf of First Call Property Services. If you want the short version, things are going well.

It all started a few months back when Micah said me and Kaylee needed to start thinking about the future. He asked what we’d do when Hudson outgrew the crib.

He was right. We love living in the camper. It’s so easy and simple, most of the time.

But with Hudson growing, Micah was right. It’s just not the best we can do.

So, Kaylee and me started talking about our budget and some ideas. We decided to talk to Allen Geven to see if he’d help us start a little company to do property upkeep and cleaning. I figured we’d get a few upkeep and handyman jobs along the way and make a little extra money.

The man we did cleaning services for, Dave Callahan, was happy to let us run our work through the new company. He said, so long as we did his work like we’ve been doing, it would be just fine.

Well, we have. And now, we’re doing a whole lot more. Allen introduced me to an electrician, Kent Marlon, and he’s working with me every day. We’ve been getting cleaning calls from other property management companies, too.

Now, it’s not just me and Kaylee working. It’s me, Kent, Kaylee, Emily, and Jenna most days. And Allen is doing plumbing work three or four nights every week.

We know that it will slow down a lot soon. Once school starts again this fall, vacation travel will really slow down. Jenna and Emily know they probably won’t be needed, and they are fine with that.

Kent’s working on getting his electrical license in Texas, but he says he’ll keep helping as needed until he builds up his business. Allen has an idea that First Call could become Kent’s business, but that’s just talk for now.

So, it looks like the little idea Kaylee and I had is working out. After we pay everyone who’s helping, we’re still adding to our income. And we’re working almost twice as many hours as we did when we were just cleaning.

Pretty soon, we think it will be time to start looking for a better home for Hudson to grow up in.

GOOD NIGHT by Ailana Geven Keller

Naomi and I are on our way into Sea Ranch Restaurant for dinner. She and Steve arrived a few hours ago with some news I wasn’t expecting.

“Ailana,” she told me, “after working with AGI during the Black and White session, I realized that, under the right circumstances, I might like to model more.”

I told her that sounded like a great idea. She said her modeling would be limited, that she would have to fit the product, and that it wouldn’t be frequent.

“But,” she added, “I definitely want to be part of what AGI is doing.”

“Well,” Jason replied, “a lot of what we’re doing is because of you in the first place.”

Then came the big surprise. “Steve and I are going to buy a condo down here. We’re not sure where yet, but it will be an investment property that a property management company can handle when we’re not here. We think it would be nice to come down from time to time for long weekends, and it would give me a place to stay whenever I’m a fit for that week’s modeling job.”

“You’re going to buy a condo?”

She said they were. A lot of her work can be done remotely—emails, phone calls, Teams meetings—so whether she does it here or in Chicago makes little difference.

“Having a place here—a vacation home we rent out when we’re not in town,” Steve said, “fits into our long-term plans. Someday, we’ll retire. Why not here? If we buy now, we’ll have a few years to find out if this is where we want to retire.”

It makes sense. It was still a huge surprise. But I’m starting to get used to huge surprises.

May the things that surprise you leave you feeling happy and hopeful.

Good night.

Be your best you!

GOOD MORNING by Ailana Geven Keller. Good morning, Ailana. That is one terrific morning coffee outfit! And I see the Izzyverse is firing on all cylinders today. I think it's very prudent of Naomi to come down and bring Steve. Very nice. After the other shots, I'm betting he is just as interested in Naomi's modeling as she is. And Dr. Sinclair and Mr. Robertson both coming to South Padre? Just serendipity they should travel together. Everything is flowing. Sure that your theory that Izzy is the center is just a theory? Evidence is mounting... Thanks for the preview and have a great day!

SAFE POISON by Ailana Geven Keller. That phrase is eerie. Oxy-moronic, s you said. But! That is a lovely dress. And bare shoulders! I LOVE bare shoulders. Sexy, casual, elegant, playful, formal. Whatever you need, bare shoulders can pull it off. I am sure the client will be happy. Thank you for the photo, Jason. Have a great rest of your day.

FIRST CALL UPDATE by Isaac Branch. Hey Isaac! Good to hear from you, sir. We keep hearing that First Call is doing gangbusters. Glad to know this is true. It will probably slow down some, but you never know how much. Glad you can ramp back up if needed. I think the three services company idea is a sound one. Individually, it works. Together, it should work even better. Good luck.

GOOD NIGHT by Ailana Geven Keller. Buying a condo? That is a terrific idea! So, not just weekend visiting, then. Scouting for a semi permanent base there. Makes perfect sense. AGI and Prior Talent Group work together often, and the often-ness is increasing. So,... sound thinking. It IS a huge surprise. But a welcome one, I think. Buying a condo! Niiiicccee! I bid you all goodnight. ⭐️.
