GOOD MORNING by Ailana Geven Keller
Well folks, it’s going to be a busy day. I’m not going to take much time now, but I did want to check in and say good morning.
Today, the AGI Creative team is doing a shoot for a company that makes hair-styling devices. We’re going to a kitchen-and-bath showroom where they have a variety of model bathrooms set up for potential buyers to see.
We’ll be using them as sets for the shots we need to produce. There are some logistics involved in setting up the lighting, but we’ve got a plan in place for that.
Meanwhile… Holy cow! The Ryans are spinning all over the place getting ready for Aria’s arrival. That’s still on track to happen this weekend. Josh is staying back today to coordinate the move and play schoolmaster to Kel and Emily. Geoni is helping with the shoot.
I suppose that’s enough to get the day started, so I’ll close this chapter. See you soon!

HAIR DEVICE SHOOT by Ailana Geven Keller
We are well into the shoot, but I thought I’d take a break and check in. I’ll share some images, too.
You might recall from yesterday that our instructions were to produce images with “close-up, product-focused composition demonstrating the products in use. Show models without distractions from clothes or jewelry, generally relying on face, hair, shoulders, and arms.”
With that in mind, wardrobe really isn’t a big consideration. The real question is how to have bare shoulders with no distractions from clothes. I’m sharing some wide shots we took for you as well as the final images we’ll send to the client.
Kaylee and I opted for leggings and a bandeau top. It’s a fairly simple idea. My first shot shows how it would have looked if you had been here in the showroom. I’d say you aren’t surprised.
For the client, Geoni zoomed in and limited how much of my torso—and top—was shown. This makes the hair dryer clearly the subject.
The same approach applied to Kaylee, but with a tighter composition. For her product shot, Jason was able to leave out the top entirely.
Isabela and Min came from the clinic in their scrubs. For their shots, we had towels that could be part of a natural bathroom scene or cropped out.
Since the pants didn’t show, there was no need to change out of them.
Min pointed out that she really didn’t need to use a flat iron on her hair. Ever. I said that was my plan. Since she naturally has straight hair, it would look like the iron had done its job without ever plugging it in.
Izzy arrived and quickly assessed the situation. “You don’t have a bandeau in my size, do you?”
She was right. For her shots, we used a bathrobe and slid it off the shoulders as needed.
I decided to share Isabela’s brush shot. It’s another example where we left the towel in the shot.
I hope this chapter shows you a little something about how a shoot works. If it’s not in the shot, it doesn’t matter what you have on—the final image may not reflect what is really going on at all.
GOOD NIGHT by Ailana Geven Keller
How about this? We call it a day?
I wish I had something super awesome to share tonight. Honestly, it was a good day. We did the job we were hired to do, and now it’s over.
Emily reported when we got home that school went well. She and I talked about progress. She shared an observation.
“Kel is, low-key, a math genius. I can’t keep up.”
The truth is, she is keeping up, but she says it’s a lot harder for her. I told her it would probably be as hard for me, too.
Back to the shoot today—Jason managed to sell the showroom owner on the idea that he and Geoni could come back and photograph all their model kitchens and bathrooms to update the store’s website. That will be a couple of days of base-rate work for them. Every job adds some good numbers to Sasha and Jasmine’s tracking spreadsheet!
Speaking of which…
I really need to get some articles done and out for sale! I also need to work on the intro to Chapter 2 of Cloudfall.. That is my plan for tomorrow!
My plan now is to talk with Emily a little more, then head to bed. Tomorrow awaits!
May you have days that flow from beginning to end, bringing productivity, prosperity, and a peaceful finish.
Good night.
Be your best you!
