I love crime and murder mysteries. I also love David Lynch. I could not love Twin Peaks, no matter how hard I tried.

I ended up Googling: "Is Twin Peaks actually good?" Maybe I just didn't get it, maybe it went over my head. Turns out, Twin Peaks came out at exactly the right time in pop culture. Watching it now in 2020 doesn't really have the same effect. I couldn't even finish it, to be honest. But I gave it a shot!

Anyone love this cult classic?? I know it's got a real following.

Twin Peaks

Synopsis:A surreal cult favorite about the investigation into the murder of a high-school homecoming queen in a Pacific Northwest lumber town. Cocreated by filmmaker David Lynch, who also directed two episodes, the drama was a mysterious and mystical (when it wasn't merely murky) excursion into the dark side of human nature, rife with sex, violence, dream sequences and a gallery of bizarre characters.

I can remember watching it when it came out and not getting too far through it before giving up! Most memorable thing... “damn fine coffee”

Andrew

I watched it back again recently, before the new series came out. I really enjoyed series one, but once the killer was revealed there was no point watching any further. The way I understand it, is that the murder was always meant to be a pretext to introduce the world. It wasn't really supposed to be a murder mystery. I, like most people, liked the mystery and didn't look any further.

Arthur Gatward

I loved the theme music but after watching the first series i never bothered with it again.

Peter Matthews

I loved it when it first came out as it was something new and different but of course this format was copied so doesnt seem so novel now. The 2017 season 3 I didnt understand at all.

Tom

Can't relate I loved it 🤔especially the movie

My folks recently watched it with my brothers and I, and it was so terribly cheesy I couldn’t stand it! I’m not sure we even finished it either to be honest.

iirc, David Lynch started it off, then the TV channel started wanting to change it, Lynch left, murderer was revealed and it went downhill. Lynch came back at the end and for the movie; I love the movie. I still need to watch the recent season...

If you want surreal you may prefer... The Singing Detective.

to be clear, I mean the BBC series: I've not seen the Robert Downey Jr film, which is a film of the same story produced some years afterward.
