Looks really good, not eaten a gypsy tart in years. I’m now trying to ignore the hunger pangs (you’re not helping the diet!!)

Well at 40yr old I can say this is the first time I've even heard of them. Must be too far North

Dr Philip J Naylor

My sister loves a gypsy tart, but apart from one I made myself I don't think I've had it since junior school. The herb chopping attachment on an electric hand blender makes short work of pastry making.

Aaron Conway

You’re better at cooking and baking than you give yourself credit for! The things you make turn out well a lot! Hope you’re having a nice time in Canada, and hope you can get your twitch back soon! I miss your streams! When your streams were going on they helped me get through my exams, thank you for them! I appreciate them a lot! Also sorry to hear that you’re feeling sick, hope you feel better soon!

Malcolm Lawrence

You're getting far too good at this cooking lark Alanna. It's many years since I've had Gypsy tart, but I'll absolutely add it to my list of 'things to cook' on the basis it's not too difficult(?) and it's deeply unhealthy!!

Mark Walsh

There are a lot of tarts on Shepperton. .Many that's for the vid .Mite give this one a go ..

Stuart Hamilton

I thought you made a Gypsy Tart by pouring lemon juice over him! But seriously, Gypsy Tart we had at school (junior, late 1950's) was made edible with lashings of custard! I agree with Aaron, you're a pretty good cook to be able to concoct such delights while maintaining a constant commentary, with side notes, is a rare gift!

I’ve stolen your ‘How my opinion on the UK has changed!’ COPYRIGHTED. So if you use that video idea i’ll have YouTube demonetize your video! Also the author of that gipsy tart recipe has been in touch and demands royalties for the inappropriate use of it!

Hi, Alanna, I'd never heard of a Gypsey Tart but it did look good. Workmen and ringing doorbells it could only be Alanna trying to cook. Hope Csnada is going well.

A what tart? Kinda looks like a giant butter tart.

My cooking skills are ummm 'minimal'. I don't enjoy cooking. Yet I can watch this with lots of enjoyment! It's weird how we call random foods "Gypsy". Gypsy Tart. Gypsy Toast (bread dipped in egg and fried). Hopefully, the term won't be seen as offensive for some weird reason, and you don't get banned from THIS platform as well for food-related offences LMFAO. Enjoyed this vid - thanks!

Alanna, Great A&N Kitchen episode! After watching I suddenly had the urge for some Pop-Tarts...😆

Gypsy Toast, thats French Toast (posh) or Eggy Bread (the rest of us).

I used to think it was French Toast, but I was informed that is not the case (French Toast has extra ingredients). Eggy Bread is another name for it yes, but I was wondering why we call random foods "Gypsy".

Tony S

Gypsy Tart, I thought WTF, until I saw the ingredients, ah, Butterscotch Tart. Last time I had it was at school, made in a large square tin twice the size of your tray you placed it on, it was cut into 3in. squares, a few got a piece with an often burnt crust, most of us got a middle piece with just the base, served with the usual lumpy custard often with a skin on it. Our parents were paying for this food. School cooks, the bottom of the food chain.

Haven't made pastry for years, too easy to buy ready rolled at the supermarket, the Kenwood only gets used for bread making these days or occasionally whipping cream (if the phone rang it ended up as butter) and the blender attachment for the daily smoothie.

Shane Hitching

Yay! The gloves are back! 🖤🖤🖤

Yeah it looks similar to a Sugar Pie which is a Québecois dish. Basically it is all 🎵 "sugar, sugar"🎵 It looks good, but only something you would only want a sliver of at a time.

Tazz1669

Never heard of a gypsy tart up here in Scotland maybe it's a southern thing. You are getting great at the pastry making.

James Alberg

Never heard of this pastry, condensed milk and sugar 'Gypsy Tart thingy"... but, as as always, a fun video Alanna 👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻

This was my favourite dessert at my (Kent County Council) junior school lunches, and as I commuted into London for my secondary schooling, I never had it after age 11 until I discovered that they sold them at our local bakery. I occasionally have one (individual tart sized) with my afternoon cup of Yorkshire! I’m sure they’ve made a significant contribution to my Type 2 Diabetes…
