So as far as I remember they never *really* explain Jellal’s memory loss besides kind of theorizing it’s a side effect of absorbing ethernanos. But my personal belief is that it more had to do with him being manipulated by Ultear. Because THAT really isn’t explained either, and from the few flashbacks we get it never really seems like just manipulation as much as some kind of mind control. So it kind of makes sense to me that with that control broken, he wouldn’t remember a lot of what he did during that time, whether it’s because it wasn’t “really” him or just because being under the influence of such strong magic for so long kind of broke his brain.
