Why do you guys keep forgetting that its been said multiple times that Ultear was the one who controlled Jellal while pretending to be Zeref? It was revealed back in Episode 48 but you keep doing this and blaming Zeref for it like the characters in-universe who think Zeref is the root of all evil.

Hell of a cliffhanger!! Also, something I think you guys are missing is that it’s the Eclipse portal itself that has dark magic. Remember, Jellal said he’s been sensing it every year during the games for several years, because they use the portal to collect everyone’s magic. Future Lucy only has that magic on her because she used the portal; not because she’s doing something with Zeref. This whole arc has nothing to do with Zeref that we know of, besides the portal being used to kill him. They only keep saying the magic is “similar to Zeref” as a way of saying it’s malicious.
