We've just launched a new version of our Push to Kindle Android app on the Google Play store.

We'll have more details soon, but we'd appreciate it if any patrons with Android devices could try it out and give us feedback. It's published as a new app, so if you already use our Android app, you can install it alongside the current app (the new app has a slightly brighter red icon).

The 3 main changes are:

1. We no longer require email addresses to be entered to send articles. The new send mode (on by default) uses the official Amazon Kindle app to send the files Push to Kindle generates. These go straight to your Kindle account, so as long as you have the Amazon Kindle app installed, and you're signed into it, you're good to go.

This makes it much easier for new users to get started, and for existing users of the app, there's no longer any need to share your Kindle email address with us.

2. There's a new preview tab that allows you to see how well (if at all) we've been able to extract the article content you want to send to your Kindle.

3. You can now edit the article title from the preview tab, similar to the Push to Kindle browser extensions.

We've also made this a free app now with a credit limit (20/month), like our web app. Combined with the simpler send method, we think more people will be able to get up and running with much less fuss than before. So if you know anyone who might benefit from the app, feel free to share the link.

All patrons can remove the credit limit in the app by using the Patreon login link from the settings screen.

We'd love to hear what you think, so if you do try it, please give us feedback. You can comment here or email us at help@fivefilters.org. The app is new so might still have some teething trouble - if you have any difficulty with it, we'd really like to know.

Once again, we'd like to thank all patrons for supporting the development of Push to Kindle. We really wouldn't be able to continue work on the project without you.

Awesome, thank you! Will download tonight.

Thanks, downloaded. 1. App does not manage page where I am logged in my payed accout (newspaper with subscription, denikn.cz). It extracts the article as I am not logged in, so it is short with prompt to log in. Browser extension does it well. 2. When I switched "Show from before sending" off, app shows me warning that sending failed. 3. In the app, in instrution point 3, after the word "and choose:" is empty space, no text nor image.

If this means that the document is saved in Amazon Content and Devices, I hope that there's an alternative to keep things the way they are when you port this to Apple devices. I don't need to have my Amazon account junked up with the things I send to my Kindle(s), and I don't need to be curating my Amazon account by manually deleting the documents.

Hi - tried the new app but I found that when sharing from Chrome, the app would sort of bounce open briefly, then bounce back. The previous app didn't do this, and just worked in the background, displaying a subtle message to say it had sent the article. I checked that the app wasn't set to show the form when sending. Is this expected behaviour or can I try something to fix this? Have gone back to the previous app for now.
