Exclusive #11: Kitten in a Dino Onesie (Patreon)
Content
Happy Friday!
Last week I created a poll asking what kind of designs you'd like to see here on the Patreon. The two options with the most votes were animals/nature and prints for nurseries and kid's rooms. Well, this print meets both those criteria! And it is so, so, SO cute. I actually printed this one last week to bring to our community market, as I figured that market would draw a crowd that appreciates animals, nature, and cute prints a little more than the pop culture prints. I was right. It wasn't long into the market when my son texted me and said, "Kitty dino sold so fast! Easiest sale of my career!" Mind you, this was his first time running a market and his "career" was only about 2 hours long at this point, but still... it was snatched up pretty quickly and I was told the customer squealed a bit when they first saw it. If you have a commercial license, the file is free to download, so head on over to the shop!
I mentioned last Friday that we were vending at two markets that weekend. My teenage kids ran the smaller market hosted by our community league, and Canadian Gamer and I accepted a last minute booth offering at the bigger Geeky event market held midtown in an old airport hangar turned Aviation museum. Both markets were very successful, despite the large overnight dump of snow on the roads and the colder temperatures we woke up to. We didn't stock our kids' market table with too much product, as we weren't sure how much would sell there, so we were truly shocked when they made out like bandits. We regret not offering them an hourly rate as pay for their time. Instead we told them they could split half the profits after the table fee, and it was the better deal for them for sure. They've already been asking when they can run another table at a market for us.
I'm happy to say that we had a fantastic turnout at our larger market as well. I sold another 3 panel Taylor Swift (Sparkle and Shine background), more mountain scapes, a wildflower bouquet, the Plague Doctor, my brand new Demon Slayer I'd pulled off the plate that morning, two Budgie prints, both the Gingerbread Train and House prints, Jack Skellington and The Grinch, Itty Bitty Bee (yay!), Prairie Ferret, Hummingbird, a Superman (someone paired him with CG's Batman print), and lots of bird and the new Dragonball Z Goku bookmarks. And!!! I sold one of my teacher signs (Deja Do). I've actually noticed an uptick in downloads on Makerworld for those prints as well, so my guess is that people are printing some teacher gifts for Christmas. Finally, I also sold some Edmonton Oilers player bookmarks and a new team logo print that I designed and only sell physical prints of locally. Our town loves its hockey!
Canadian Gamer and I also held a little competition on Instagram and with the people who visited our booth to see whose Baby Groot print people liked better. He hasn't released his Baby Groot yet, but if you want to see it, it's in our Instagram posts. Who wo....? What's that? Sorry? Can't hear you, you'll have to ask me again later!
Anyway, good luck to those of you with markets this weekend! Have a great week ahead!
