There is more to Michael's situation than whether his mother or stepfather loses interest in caring for his brother. At this point we can see that he is smart and honest, and that he is fiercely protective of his little brother. But also he distrusts adult men whether it is Cutty, Prez, or whoever. He doesn't want Bug's father anywhere near the boy. At this point it's not spelled out explicitly, but it seems that earlier in his life this man abused him, and that there was no authority figure anywhere to protect him. What also seems clear is that Namond can define "the game" and its rules and how it must be played, but in real life he just doesn't have the heart to play it. Finally here, we get a front row seat to Jay Landsman's lovely gift-of-gab as he gives a lovely send-off to Colonel Raymond Foerster, who died of cancer (Actor Richard DeAngelis, who played Foerster for most of 4 seasons of the show, had just died under the same circumstances). We've seen this briefly before, in Landsman's remarks to Rawls in season 1 and his discussion of fashion and plain clothes assignments to Bunk, Lester, and Beadie Russell in season 2. When Jay Landsman begins to speak, look up at the screen and listen -- you will rarely be disappointed.

You should totally watch those "why the wire is the greatest" youtube videos. There are so many little moments and hidden Easter eggs you dont notice watching the first time. Such as the one girl in the show who has an entire story arc despite only being in 3 scenes over the 5 seasons.

Snoop isn't just from Baltimore, she's basically playing herself. Felicia "Snoop" Pearson, badass Baltimore gangsta, plays Felicia "Snoop" Pearson, badass Baltimore gangsta. For Season 1 they told the real Jay Landsman he wasn't a good enough Jay Landsman, so they gave the part to Delaney Williams. I'm guessing everybody was just scared of Snoop so they said "okay just be you, but with more guns" 😆

I've always appreciated the quiet implications about Michael's situation. I wouldn't call it subtle, not by the end, but I like that they don't just spell it out for you. They let the implications lay there, if you notice them (same with Chris)

Just casually dropping "I just started watching The Expanse" in the intro 👀
