This episode features one of the very few blatant physics mistakes in this show. Chalk it up to a new team, and not everyone being up to speed on their physics (the show does spend the first half of season one teaching viewers how to unlearn all the junk ‘science’ an entire generation of sci-fi fans learned with Science-Fantasy like Star Wars & Star Trek…) At 7:53 in your video, the wrench shouldn’t have zipped away as it did, because the shuttle Knight wasn’t under thrust (i.e. - not accelerating), the wrench should have the same relative speed as the ship, even when Holden let go of it. They could have correctly achieved the same story effect by Holden accidentally fumbling the wrench with enough imparted momentum to get out of his reach before he could grab it. Oh well. I know you’re months ahead, but congratulations on getting through what is, IMO, the worst episode of the entire series. 😜

4:35 - The series of words Miller said into his phone has to do with accents. American (all English?) regional accents can be determined by specific words that vary greatly between regions. The way someone from Boston, New York, the American South, and Midwest say “coffee” are all very distinct from each other. Almost every word in Miller’s phrase is one of these types of words. He was using it to teach the Cop/Security software on his phone what his own accent was, so the program could convert his words into Julie’s voice, thus causing the voice-activated equipment in her apartment to turn on, because his phone was perfectly recreating her voice (presumably constructed from voice samples in the files Captain Shadid gave Miller in ep. 1.)

18:23 - The artificial gravity on space stations like Ceres is produced via centrifugal force. The dwarf planet was ‘hollowed out’ with tunnels, and the whole rock artificially spun fast enough to produce 0.3 G for those in the tunnels. It’s like the gravitron carnival ride (you recently saw this in Stranger Things) that spins so fast you are stuck to the wall even when they drop the floor away. Everyone inside Ceres is standing ‘upside-down’ relative to the dwarf planet’s surface. Feet toward the surface, heads toward the core. The closer you are to the surface, the more felt gravity you experience, and the less coriolis you feel. Poorer neighborhoods are closer to the core of Ceres, which has less gravity and more of a coriolis effect. The coriolis would impact things like pouring water, which is what that effect was demonstrating.

The ship WAS under thrust during that scene, Alex says "Watch your step boys, we're under way" when they go outside. And you can see that Alex's boots aren't magnetized when he's stumbling around.

Huh, i never caught that before. It’s amazing how many details there are to miss… Now to watch the watch-along, and catch what I’ve apparently always missed. Thanks stranger. 😃
