Olivia Cooke absolutely owned that scene where Alicent gets upstaged. I imagine the direction was "okay, we're gonna turn down the volume on all these idiot men and do a super slow zoom on your face. Show all the emotion. Go"

The title sequence goes through the major events of Targaryen history up until this point because that's what the book that the show is based on, "Fire and Blood", does; House of the Dragon just tells the story of this one major conflict but Fire and Blood has like 100 years of history before that. So you're seeing things like the Field of Fire, when Aegon burned the Reach and Westerland armies with his sisters, and then the various kings submitting, among others Torrhen Stark "the King who knelt", and a whole lot more various events after that. At some point we see the Great Council of 101 which was the cold open scene we saw in the pilot with the old king where it was decided that Viserys, not Rhaenys, would inherit the throne. So at that point we're caught up with the events of the show and if you didn't read the books, or aren't otherwise aware of all the lore, you're not meant to understand what's happening before that.
