Like The Expanse always do the many questions you now have no doubt will be explained. This episode typically gets EVERYBODY who comes upon it! Talk about the mind being absolutely twisted after seeing such odd things!

You're obviously smart enough for this show, the second half of season 3 is just kind of impossible if you haven't read the books. I guess that comes from the writers having to shove an entire book into half a season because they thought they were getting cancelled. People generally love this season precisely because it is so fast-paced, but I actually think it's TOO fast-paced, the pace kind of works to its detriment where it's hard to really explore the story more deeply or really get to understand new characters like Clarissa or Ashford. There just isn't time for any of that. But essentially, what Holden was seeing was the past (the distant past, like Miller said, billions of years ago) when the ring space acted as a hub for wormholes to tons of different star systems (I guess you've already finished at least this season already if not the next one as well, so this won't be a spoiler). And Holden saw the central station that he's in right now acting as a Death Star of sorts, shooting a massive beam of energy to destroy the star in one of the systems (which wasn't our solar system) and thereby all life in it. So in that moment he realized the danger they were all in by being in this bubble thing and near this station.
